It's exactly to the day and hour since I had my surgery and my life changed for the better. I'm thankful I had absolutely no complications post op. I am thankful for this site which throughout my year has been the only place for support (still noone knows I've had the sleeve). I come here everyday (I kinda feel like I'm addicted to this site), but you all have helped me SO much, and for that, I thank you.
So, after 1 year...I've reached my target goal, and am pretty much happy to staying with this weight so I've started eating more and increased (never stopped) my chocolate intake (I'm a sweet toother). I'm planning to get the extra skin removed soon.
Many people I know don't recognise me when we meet so I've gotten used to introducing myself to them in malls, hospitals, parking lots etc...and always give them a minute or so to absorb the shock from the new me before we talk on other things. I don't like talking about my weight loss too much so I kinda try to change the subject when I see it's all they want to talk about. But I'm happy that I've managed to meet most of my friends over this year so no more open mouth reactions.
Here's a list of some of the many things that only as little as 1 year ago.....I could only but dream getting my body to do:
1. My favorite- crossing my legs (I cross my legs every time since I was able to lol)
2.Sleeping on my back without having the weight crush your lungs
3. Being able to feel my collar bone
4. Being able to tie my shoes, wash my feet, basically just bend down
5.Being able to wash my whole back and have my hands reach all spots.
6. Being able to sit on the floor and cross my legs
7. Being able to fit into anything really (airplane seats, movie seats, seats on rides etc)without even thinking about it before sitting
8. Being able to go to a party and actually come across like a picky eater (I love this one- before I would have to eat at home first just so that I don't embarass myself with my husband in the parties by eating all the bites on a tray or ordering an extra plate of something)
9. Being able to play with my kids and just having so much energy...it's incredible! But most importantly.....
10. Being able to look in the mirror and see the person who I have ALWAYS been inside and have others finally see the true me (beautiful inside and out). I have so much more confidence and am much happier than ever.
For all those thinking about getting sleeved and wondering if you'll regret it......the only thing I regret is having not done it before!
