Default Anyone else get told they are good looking NOW?

Now that I've lost a lot of weight I've had a few people say you are so beautiful now. And my brother in law said multiple times within an hour that I'm hot now... As much as I love compliments I feel offended when I get told I look good now... What was I to them before I lost weight? I'm just thankful I have a partner that has always thought I'm beautiful.. Through the fat and thin times lol.

My first thought was your bil needs to be told off by their partner to not be calling you hot... but other than that yes, I've had some people notice me more now but it doesn't hurt my feelings because to be totally honest with myself, I was not showing my beauty under all the extra weight. My face looks so different now, and for the first time in years I recognize the woman in the mirror. I don't think it's meant to hurt, I think it's meant as a clueless compliment...

It is a clueless compliment! Yes...I have had someone say that...I want to scream and come back with an equally clueless rebutal but there would be no comprehension

in response you could say "maybe if you gain a little weight you will look almost as good" then walk away.

People do not think before they speak... It is that simple.. My sister actually commented wow up till now I have always been thinner than you. To which I replied yes but I have always been smarter than you......

My Ex-husband never had a problem with me being overweight...in fact, he liked it that way, other than possible health risks, because he thought nobody else would want me and he would never have to worry about me leaving him....well, WRONG! I got out of a marriage that was slowly killing me after 16 years and started living again...now with my sleeve, I feel like my life has new meaning. Bring on the compliments!!!

People have no clue. A girl at work was recently sharing some family pictures. She got to one and said "and that's my ugly duckling cousin, we have no idea how she ended up in our family ". A second picture of the same girl with her fiancée and further comments about how someone so ugly got a man like him. Her cousin is I think very attractive, but heavy. Probably 75-100 lbs overweight, but pretty! Her fiancée is thin. Apparently in the mind of my coworker, this is an unknown, that a thin person can love a heavy person. Here she is, showing me these pictures, knowing what size I am now, knowing what size I was a year ago, and speaking so rudely. I told her I thought her to cousin was pretty and I didn't see anything ugly about her. No response. Then I said "if you are simply referring to her weight, well you must think I'm pretty ugly too." I then walked away and didn't bother waiting for a response.

Yes, it's a bit uncomfortable being told I look handsome/great/sexy NOW.

But, in the grand scheme of things, I'd be lying if I said I didn't like it.

Honestly ask yourself...when was the last time you looked at an over-weight person and thought to yourself..."Damn he/she is hot!" I'm from the south were curves are celebrated...but being skinny equals HOT! I'm embarrassed to say...I’d always put overweight people (myself included)...in a very pretty or attractive category...never hot! I say all this to say if we think like this (not saying all of you do)...but people who are genetically lucky combined with societies skinny obsession may never few our curves, rolls or a lil sum-n-sum as hot! This is one of the hardest parts of the wls journey for me personally…the physical sh%^t!
