Default Day 1 of Liquid Pre-Op Diet :(

Hi Everyone, I've started my pre-op liquid diet this morning. Surgery is scheduled for 4/25/2011 Helpppppppp I don't think I can go this many days with no food. How did you all do it? Any suggestions?

I started with a soy protein powder mixed with water and crystal light this morning. I feel so lost right now

You will be surprised, you can get full. When you get the twinge, ,drink more water, so worth it.

It is so worth it and So are YOU. YOU CAN do this, it does get easier everyday, just take it one meal at a time and cheer yourself on for every time you stick to your guns.In a few days you won't feel so hungry. Keep drinking that water too.

This is my second time to go through a 2 week liquid diet. I have a gastric band and I am going to have a revision to a sleeve on April 25th also. The first time I was not a happy camper at first. As the days progressed, I was surprised to find that I didn't really feel hungry and it ended up being just fine.

This time I am approaching this slightly differently. I have developed a problem called dysphagia (which is uncoordinated swallowing). Because of this problem I have gained back almost 30 pounds over about the last 8 months, and I was making terrible food choices. I was eating unhealthy stuff that would go down easier (slider foods - high in fat and calories). I am SO relieved that for the next 2 weeks I don't have to make ANY food choices. It got to the point that I was looking in my frig for something to eat and almost crying because all the healthy food stuff I had in there was such a challenge to eat.

Perhaps you can look at this an opportunity to relax about food and food choices, and I promise you in a few days you will find it not as difficult as seems to be today. I wish you all the best with your upcoming surgery.

The first 2-3 days are the hardest but it does get easier, I promise! I have been on mine for 6 days and have lost 10 lbs already! Remember, you are preparing for surgery and it is major surgery. You can do it, it will make your so more successful at this. Keep coming back for encouragement, it helps, at least it did me. Having my surgery on 4/25/11 with Dr Kim. I am on a 3 week liquid diet because of my high BMI. A great attitude will go a long way in this. Looking forward to hearing how it gets better and better!

I added a spoon full of fiber several times a day. It helped me with the hunger. You will do great, just think of the surgery date!

    Congrats!!!

I read a story somewhere, about a lady who didn't follow her pre op diet and when it was time for wls, the doctor had to back out and couldn't continue, her liver was too large. That would be a bummer! So I kept that in the back of my head during the pre-op diet.

How are you doing today? I am on day 7 of my liquid pre-op diet and by about day 3 I was getting the hang of it, feeling full after my shakes. Be strong! This is all SO worth it. My surgery is on 4/21, so please feel free to contact me. We'll get through this together!

Hang in there! I'm getting ready too. Probably going to have my surgery in late May. I just looked at your stats and we're identical... weight / goal. I'm so anxious to start my liquid pre-op diet and get it out of the way. I've watched so many videos on youtube (gastricsleevereview are the best!). I got a lot of good ideas from them - protein bullets, Crystal Light, fruit. But, since I'm not quite at your stage (liquid diet), i can't really give advice other than to hang in there and think of the results that you will have. I'll be tracking your progress along with ya! Good luck!
