4 1/2 months post surgery

It’s been a while since I have been on here, so I thought I would post an update. I had surgery on 3/28/12 and as of today's date I am down 56 pounds. At first I was frustrated by others who were loosing weight more rapidly than I was and I felt like a bit of failure. I think that is one of the reasons I stayed away for a bit.

But, I realize today, my journey is my journey. I am down from a tight size 22 to a perfect fitting 18 and still loosing almost daily. I have cleaned 2 large garbage bags of clothes out of my closet and have purchased a couple of pairs of jeans and some tops in my current size. It’s funny to wear the baggy stuff to work and then wear something that actually fits. Everyone is so amazed. The truth be told I am pretty amazed sometimes myself, I gotten rid of a large majority of my belly and my waste is showing. I don’t mind wearing things tucked in and tighter fitting stuff, no muffin top! lol

I have not been able to get over my aversion to going to the gym. I am still so tired at the end of the day that I just want to go home and relax. I am considering asking my doc to up my B12 shot dosage.

I just celebrated my 41st Birthday this past weekend; on Saturday we did a 12 mile kayak paddle on a local river into a lake and back. I was so happy I was able to get into the kayak without having to worry weather or not I was going to fit or tump us over. It was a double's kayak and the hubby did A LOT of the paddling, but I was pretty impressed with the share I did...lol

This surgery has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. My oldest daughter, who is 22, is now seeing my surgeon to have the surgery for herself. She has watched my changes and sees that I am happy and wants to be the same. I am so very proud of her making this decision now rather than waiting when her joints are breaking down and hurting.

I've wondered where you went and am so glad you checked in to update us on your progress. You have done so well! Very good report and so encouraging. I'm sure you are excited for your daughter. My best wishes to her. You have been missed.

You have been missed! We still need your words of experience and encouragement for others who may be slow and steady too! I'm just getting started, only 2 weeks out, and it's nice to know that we each lose at our own pace.
