    Default Frusterated...

Hello everyone, I just wanted to post a thread and rant for a minute if thats ok. I am 3 months out from my sleeve and I have only lost 65 lbs...I hit a stall a few weeks ago and only lost like a 1lb. I am just very frusterated at how slow my scale is moving, I know this feeling is probably normal but I dont like it. I took my 3 month after photos and I dont even want to look at them because I do not like what I see. I am being told that this will change, and this is only the begining but the way I am feeling It doesnt seem like things are progressing fast enough for me..I am just emotionaly frusterated plain and simple....

You have lost an average of 5.5 pounds per week since your surgery. What diet were you ever on where you lost 5.5 pounds per week and kept it off for any length of time. You have done great in your weight loss journey up until this point. Stalls happen. And when they happen they are frustrating. Try to switch things up a bit for a day or two. Increase you calorie intake or change up your exercise routine. See if that doesn't break your stall. If it does, great. If it doesn't, don't worry. This too shall pass. I didn't have a 3 month stall...I had a 2 week stall. That depressed me horribly. Now the weight is coming off fast! Very fast! Hang in there. You didn't get fat over night and you won't get skinny over night either. It's been 3 months. This is a lifestyle change, not a quick fix.

I had my surgery on 4/9 and I have lost 64 lbs. I don't know how I could have lost more weight, to be honest with you. I eat right and I work out 5-6 days a week. I think you/we are right on track. I think you are doing an excellent job!

ummmmmm I see the people that lose 100lb in 6 months and think they are brilliant, you are 15lb ahead of them at the half way mark - that would make you a super star and possibly quite rare

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?

Feeling good about yourself is a self esteem issue. There is a book out there called Women, Food, and God. It talks about how food is our God from time to time and how much we dwell on food. It is written by a woman who has gain and lost about 200 pounds for most of her life. She also talks about the fact that she has been happy at 350 pounds and she has been miserable at 120 pounds.

If you have a good self esteem when you are over weight then you will not have good self esteem when you are at a healthy weight. Personally, I didn't have weight loss surgery to make me happier. I had weight loss surgery to make me healthier. I was happy before. I just wasn't pleased that I would get out of breath just bending over and tying my shoes. And I certainly wasn't pleased when my doctor told me that if I didn't lose weight I would develop heart disease, diabetes, or both.

I hope your self esteem gets better. Look in the mirror everyday, look yourself in the eyes, and say out loud to yourself, "I am happy. I am healthy. I am thin. I am beautiful. And I am worth it!"

It won't be easy at first, but if you do that everyday, I promise your self esteem issues with get better.

I've replied to your posts before because we share the same surgery date.... I am not sure why you are feeling this way... YOU are doing fabulous!! I am down 54lbs from the day of surgery and 73 lbs total with my pre-op diet. I am beyond tickled with the amount of weight I have lost! Please don't take this the wrong way but I think maybe you should seek a support group or talk with a therapist about the "emotional" issues that you have when you look in the mirror. Do you have family and friends that you see on the regular? Are they not complimentary and supportive?? Having a good support system is essential on the weight loss journey! We didn't put this weight on overnight or even in one year's time so how can you expect to lose it that quick??? This entire process is a journey and you will have your good days and bad days but think about it... In 3 months time you have shed the weight that you probably packed on in 3-4 years!!! How is that not incredible???!!

Keep your eye on the prize and know that you WILL get there... We all will!! Let's put this into prespective!! You are basically half way to your goal weight and it's only been 3 months!! Do you still think you are losing slow??!!!

I also agree with Jodiel..... A healthy self esteem just doesn't "happen" with weight loss! You have to surround yourself with folks that are supportive and complimentary. You have to look in the mirror everyday and say... Wow! I'm Beautiful!! and most importantly BELIEVE IT!! I'm sure you tell your baby girl she is beautiful every day!! Why not start by telling yourself the same thing every morning!!!

    HUGS!!!

Increasing your protein intake may help a bunch. Are you holding yourself accountable for everything that goes into your body? Sometimes a BLT (bite, lick, or taste) can really alter our calorie intake. Even if the scale isn't moving, try measuring yourself. I am sure you are shrinking.

You are doing so wonderful, I agree with barrbdoll you have to look inside yourself, and love what your soul is this body is a vessel that carries us much like the cars we drive it isn't the car that is precious but what's in side it, us. Love yourself as much or more than you love that beautiful little angel on you picture, you deserve that as much as you give her, your a beautiful woman don't gauge yourself by others, look into the eyes of those that love you and accept the love, the rest will follow in time, .....hugs

Dawn, I would love to have lost 65 lbs in 3 mos! Oh my gosh, that's fantastic!! When I went to my 3 mo follow-up appt I was down 40 lbs from before the pre-op diet (316 to 276), and the surgeon, nut, and I were all very pleased with that progress. It was about 10 lbs per month, which is awesome for me. As my mom exclaimed to me when I told her, "when have you ever lost 40 lbs before?" I never have on any other diet. And know it isn't coming back. So I don't stress over what I haven't lost.

So, please don't focus on what hasn't happened yet, embrace and celebrate what you have already done! Celebrate your fabulous success with 65 lbs lost for GOOD!! And never to come back!! Plus, you are only at 3 months - you have lots of losing yet to come.

And I'd also echo what jodiel and barrbdoll have said - it sounds like you could definitely benefit from slightly changing your inner dialog with yourself, and you might need some support to learn how to do that. What would you tell anyone else who came to you with the same thoughts about themself? I'll bet you would tell them they are doing really well, and ought to be thrilled with their accomplishments, and that they look amazing. Don't you deserve to treat yourself just as nicely and with as much compassion? Of course you do!! :-)
I may be a SLOW loser, but I'm still a loser!!

You are definitely losing a great amount, wow, 5.5 p/week is better than the average sleeve loss of 3 lbs or so. I believe you should be greatful you're doing so well, therefore I'll say congrats!
