    Unhappy Slow coming off....

I was sleeved on 03/15 and have only lost 14 lbs. I'm following the program but not losing the "pound a day" that others say they are losing. I've been stuck for 4 days, scale hasn't budged. Plus, I'm very hungry between meals. I thought I wasn't suppose to feel the hunger sensation after having the sleeve procedure. Has anyone else had this trouble? If so, how did you get through it and am I doing anything wrong?

    Very frustrating.

I am hungry too and have the slow weight loss. I have lost 23 Ibs total but 8 of that was prior to surgery and have only lost 15 pounds in 4+ weeks=3 pounds and some oz per week so I completely understand your frustration; plus I have been working out 3-5 times a week (walking/cardio). I was sleeved on 3/7/11 and it has been a hard process for me.....i envy those who have had it easy with no difficulties. I got anemic after the surgery and still can't seem to get my energy back; miserable gas and constipation, etc. Hang in there......we'll come thru this together.

Wait, you've lost 14 lbs. in only 3 weeks, and you're complaining? Where else can you do that? Seriously, I think that anyone losing 3 or 4 lbs a week is doing fantastic (me included); and some weeks I only lose 1 1/2 or 2. It's all better and faster than any pre-surgery diet I ever tried. Slow and steady wins the race. You didn't gain it all in a month or two, so don't expect to lose it all in a month or two. The only ones who lose at fast paces are those whose starting weight is much, much higher, or men who have a higher muscle mass than us women (Muscle burns fat remember)! Congratulations and keep up the good work, I say!
    Diane

Thanks for your information Diane, but I don't feel like its complianing......I know that in my situation I just want to know what is considered normal and with everyone having there own journey we see a lot of different opinions. Being newbies, we are not sure what to expect and it can be confusing.

I have averaged about 3 pounds per week, some weeks I don't lose anything and other weeks I may lose 8 pounds. Trust me when i say slower is better. I am 5 months post op and have had 2 kidney stone attacks and when they found my kidney stones they also found gall stones. The ER doctor felt that this was due to quick weight loss. So take your time, eat properly and drink your water and in no time at all you will be where you want to be. I was sleeved November 8th and I have lost 80 pounds. Off to Cuba next week and I am wearing a bikini. Stretch marks and all.......Good Luck and keep up the hard work.

I am firm believer in the premise that you don't lose weight and inches at the same time. You either do one or the other. If you are exercising, you are replacing fat with muscle. Muscle weighs the same but does not take up as much space as fat. Your body may be rearranging itself. Have you lost inches?
Reason: Muscle weighs more changed to muscle weighs the same

Sadly I haven't measured but I can tell that some clothes are fitting looser. I do try on different clothes of different sizes to see where I am at. Thanks to everyones response to help us newbies.

Thanks to everyone that responded. It's nice to know I'm not the only one that's still experiencing the hunger pains and losing weight at a slower pace than a lot of the people commenting on this forum.

To Diane: I certainly didn't mean to "complain" about the 14 lbs that I've lost over the last 3 weeks because I am thrilled. I was simply under the impression that it would be faster, especially after witnessing a close friend of mine lose one pound per day while on the liquid phase of the diet (first 6 weeks). Having been a yo-yo dieter most of my life, there actually HAVE been times when I have lost as much as 15 lbs in one month (Adkins diet) by eating significantly more than I am now. While I never expected to lose 132 lbs in two or three months, I was hoping, based on what I'd read in some of the comments from members of this forum and in talking to people that chose the surgical weight loss route, that it was reasonable to expect, in the first 6 weeks, to lose anywhere from 30-40 pounds. So, yes, I have been a little frustrated that the pace was slower than expected but still thrilled that I had the surgery.

Good luck to all! Thanks again for letting me know that there are others out there that are in the same boat. Happy to be paddling along side you in spirit! I'm determined and will make this work, fast or slow, with or without hunger pains I WILL reach my goal.....just might take a little longer than I originally thought but I'm okay with that now.

I am sooo glad someone posted this thread. I have been so depressed at my weight loss since the surgery. I was sleeved on March 7 and have only lost 15lbs since day of surgery. I too thought it would be more. I am hungry and find that I can drink fast and hold a lot of liquid. I didn't think we were supposed to be able to do all that. This past week i even gained a pound. I am on solid food now so maybe that has something to do with it and I can't start exercising until a week and a half from now. I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one having such a slow weight loss.

I havn't lost a thing since surgery and I am 4 weeks post op had no pain or wind but weigh more now than on the day I had surgery so total losses are 9lbs all lost on pre op diet and gained 2lb last week. I have been hungry since day 7 using will power not to graze and sticking to the diet but really devastated as others I know have lost 3 stone at 4 weeks.

Maybe your stomach is just talking to you and you are not hungry. You may be used to being hungry. Try to eat something with fiber at your meals and drink your waters and protien drinks and you won't be hungry.

wow, did you talk to dr.? I told mine that I thought I would lose faster and he told me I was a whiner and that I was fine. I try not to get on the scale all the time (which is really difficult) Just stay active and focused and maybe it will all settle down. I would try to eat a little more if you can. Are you getting 1200 calories a day?
