Omeprazole Capsules?

So I have been taking OTC Omeprazole and it comes in tiny easy to swallow little tablets. When I went in for my three month checkup, they offered a prescription to save me a little money. Well today I filled the prescription and when I brought it home, I realized that the prescription version are capsules. I thought sleevers were supposed to stay away from capsules? Maybe this just happened to be the generic the pharmacy had on hand? Ive read that we should avoid capsules due to the decrease in stomach acid, but the fact that im taking them to reduce stomach acid to begin with turns it in to a catch 22... Anyway, I can call my surgeons office in the a.m. to be sure, just thought id mention it on here and see if anyone else came across this.Thx!!

I take medications that I need to live that only come in capsule, I have no problem and no one ever told me I couldn't take them. Hope this helps! Good luck!!

My surgeon prescribed the same, In capsules.

My RX said to put put into juisce but now that I am on the otherside I look and I only have tablets.Witing to figure out in morning. Not sure what all this post op Rx are for there are 5 1 is pain med, get that the other the shot for cloting, get that the other 3 have not figured out one is a liquid.

Mine are caps aswellso farno problem and I take two a day

I open the capsule and sprinkle it on a tablespoon of applesauce every morning when I take my vitamins. It doesnt taste like anything and just makes crunchy noises. This is what the Dr. told me to do.

I take 7 capsules a day. 1 omeprazole and 6 juice plus and swallow about 3 or 4 at a time. No problems here.

I open them also to take. Just pour in my mouth and take a drink.

Thanks everyone! Im on day three now and no problems Michelle - your still taking the omeprazole at almost a year out? Did you take them before surgery? I was really hoping to be able to go off of them eventually...

I was given the melt on the tongue ones by the hospital, when I went to my Dr's to get a repeat prescription he was gonna give me capsules. Apparently the tablet form ones are the more expensive of the two but both are fine to take.x
