I'm Finally Free!

I'm not going to count calories. I'm not going to track every bite. I'm not going to shame myself for a bite of the "wrong foods". I did all of that when I was in the "struggle of hopelessness" before my surgery. What I have learned is to adopt a healthy lifestyle, what that means for me is, I will follow my surgeons directions exactly. I'm going to try and get 80 grams of protein daily, exercise at least 30 mins daily, and drink lots of water (and I don't drink anything with calories or sugar). I know that as long as I'm doing all of that, I don't have to be all crazy paranoid over my weight. I'm so happy I had this surgery. My life is on a great track and the best part is I'M FINALLY HAPPY! Good luck, everyone!

Yay! My feelings exactly! My life before the sleeve centered around food and guilt and failure. My sleeve has completely changed my relationship with food, and all those negative feelings are gone! Like you, I feel FREE! Already my health has improved: less joint pain, better sleep, lower blood pressure, clearer skin!, ; even my restless legs seem to be better! I don't care if my weight loss is slow, or if I stall; I know that over the next year, I will lose weight and have better health, something I had almost given up on. Wishing everyone a successful journey!

Good for you Susie! Each one of us must find what works best for them on the new journey. The sleeve is a completely different experience than all the failed diets we have been on before since it is NOT A DIET! It is a lifestyle change and our job is to figure out how to adapt to our new lifestyle. For me personally I started out tracking everything and then slowly stopped because I do not like to track every calorie. One of the reasons why I did so poorly with all the diets. I follow my doctor's guidelines and I lose weight. I can mentally track in my head where I am at for the day. I do however weigh myself frequently to make sure Iam on the right path...plus I just LOVE seeing the numbers now....he he
