Car wreck!

Well, Monday was a no-good-horrible-very-bad-day! I was riding in my dad's car, front passenger seat (protein shake in hand), my 17 year old son was in back seat behind driver...My son's father was behind us in his car and we were all stopped at a stop light heading over to look at a vehicle for my son. All of a sudden my ex looks in his rear view mirror and sees a car coming at him fast and not slowing down! WHAM!!!! and of course the impact of his car being hit knocked his car into my dad's car where I was riding. My protein shake was dispersed by force all over my face, hair, clothes, windows, roof, windshield, dashboard. Oy. My dad handed me a paper towel and once I got my wits about me and realized we were all still alive I jumped out of the car and found that the girl who hit my ex had been on her cell phone fighting with her boyfriend and was distracted!!!! She was not wearing any shoes either. I called 911 and we all pulled into a parking lot and waited for the sheriff. This girl had just purchased her new car the day before this incident and was sooooo sorry for what she had done. She proceeds to mention that her sister was killed in an auto accident and I looked at her like she was crazy and said "and YOU were driving while on the phone??!" Eventually, I did hug her and make sure she was ok because she was alone and very young. Then it hit me....omg....I'm barely a month post-op! I start feeling around on my stomach and the thought crosses my mind that maybe my sleeve got jostled or jolted during the accident. I couldnt tell because my whole body was aching and whiplash was setting in. Long story short, my family and I went to an urgent care clinic and got muscle relaxers and anti-imflammatory meds...the Dr. poked and pressed on my stomach and said nothing was wrong and xray wouldnt be able to show anything. I feel fine. Thank goodness the seatbelt was lower on my abdomen and that I am pretty well healed up! Has anyone else had any little scares like this post-op? I am feeling very lucky that nobody was taken away on a body board or worse

Michelle, Thank you! It has really opened my eyes. If I have to text during driving, my kids do it for me! And I will especially keep the phone put away in my purse while in the car from now on. It's just not worth it!

Oh my goodness Sonja! That had to be awful for you all! Kids think they are immortal but you would think with losing her sister she would be more aware. I bet her parents want to shoot her! Lol. So glad you are all ok!!!! Nothing like that to get the adrenalin pumping!

I love my bluetooth headset. Bought them for all the "kids" and hubby has handsfree in his work van.
None of us even has a text plan. We prefer voices

Glad to hear you are okay. A lady was texting on her cell phone on Monday and crossed the yellow line into my lane. I blew my car horn, she jerked the wheel back to get her car back on her side of the road. I just started thanking Jesus for keeping me safe, I have already had enough problems post-op.

Thank you everyone! Almost everyday I have to honk at someone who is distracted and about to cause an accident. It's craziness!

Only good thing is hopefully your Son learned a lesson too and when he gets his new car he wont make the same mistake as this same girl. Just seems like yesterday you would be out of pocket for hours and the world still lived without talking to you! LMAO

LMS, You are right!! I am very lucky that my son is a no-nonsense kid. He is very serious and disciplined about things like being on the phone in the car. He just doesn't do it and if his friends are with him in the car he doesnt put up with monkey business and everyone has to wear their seatbelt or the car doesnt move! Who's kid is this anyway??!? lol

So sorry!! Im so happy to hear you are all okay. Please pay close attention to your body and if you start to feel 'different' please get checked out again. That text/talking and driving is the worst! I wish Florida would make it illegal like in california.

Thanks Jenn. I am paying attention to my tummy. I was able to swim quite a bit yesterday and everything felt fine. Felt so good to get a great water work-out in! Florida is a different beast compared to other states, isn't it??! lol

OMG! That's terrible. You all need to get to a chiropractor before the whiplash takes over! I too was rear-ended by a young person talking on a cell phone, and my entire family was in the car wit me. We were actually on our way to the chiropractor for a routine visit. I hope you'll all be Ok.
