Please Help- 9 weeks out and horrific diarrohea :(

Hi there, wondering if anyone can shed some light on this problem before I have to take the drastic step of contacting the surgeon.
Since Monday of this week I have had terrible diarrohea. There appears to be no rhyme or reason to it.I have been perfectly well since surgery.No complications and have had steady weight loss.
It has been so bad I have been scared to leave the house.There is no blood but having quite harsh cramping just prior to bowel movement (every 1-2 hrs)
Loperamide is helping but I can't live on that.My appetite is more or less zero but fortunately no vomiting and just slight nausea but thats only to be expected because I am trying to drink lots to compensate.
Any ideas anyone? it's making me feel quite miserable

LOL nothing at the moment...... but before this started I would have something like greek yogurt and strawberrys for breakfast. smoked salmon and soft cheese on a water biscuit for lunch and piece of chicken (tiny) with mashed potato for dinner. All small portions. I would say my downful is probably I eat slightly too quickly but even so this has lasted for 4 days now and I certainly haven't been eating too quickly in that time!!.
It's all gone through my head......Colitis,gall-bladder,diverticulitus,IBS,Liver malfunctioning,dumping syndrome!!! Just hoped someone was going to pipe up on here and say " Hey don't worry I had that and it'll be fine next week" But I have a feeling it's all going to be a little more complicated than that.

Well...I get it when I eat the wrong foods for sure! However, I am in my 4th week and it seems to be getting much better.

dumping syndrome shouldn't occur in gastric sleeve patients due to still having the pyloric valve remaining at the lower end of the stomach, but there is still a significant chance that some may occur.

You might be getting too much fat in. Make sure all your foods are low in fat...nothing greasy, etc...which im sure you know

If it persists over the weekend, please call your doctor. If nothing else, he/she might be able to give you something for it.

I had it too when I was drinking the protein drinks. I didn't tolerate the artificial sweeteners. Im all but back to normal with that matter. Imodium generally works well. Good luck!

Thanks for the support guys. I think i'm going to carry on with the immodium till after the weekend and then approach the doc if nothings changed after that. Maybe i'll just stick with fluids for now,i'm quite happy to do that,I don't seem to get hungry anymore really.Just worried about losing valuable salts and sugars that I can ill afford to part with in these early post-op days. Maybe you have a virus or got food poisining or a bacterial infection? I mean even before sleeve surgery, we all got sick once in awhile. Are you taking Immodium or something similar? Don't be afraid to go to the regular doctor or urgent care if this doesn't go away soon, hopefully its nothing serious.

It might just be a minor tummy flu. If you haven't had it all along and it came out of the blue, I'd give it a couple days and keep drinking your fluids to make sure you don't get dehydrated.

It might be a flu. It could be MANY things, perhaps a slight intolerance to lactose from the protein shakes, you can try cutting dairy to see if it helps, but if it continues to be severe it would be worth having your Dr. check for a bacterial infection that is Highly contagious and easy to pick up called C-Diff. You will not be able to get better from C-Diff unless you get on antibiotics. good luck! Love Rainbow

I must admit it did cross my mind that it could have been a stomach flu of some sort. Normally there would be vomiting involved with that but the problem being with the sleeve,it's a bit like having your first baby ....you haven't a clue what's normal anymore and you just learn as you go along. So maybe no vomiting with gastric flu, as not much of a stomach to hold bacteria laden food in!!!....Hence more coming from the other end!!! :/

The artifical sweetener can do it. I don't do well with them. I haven't had surgery yet but the pre op diet has everything going right through me. hope you feel better soon. Michelle

I get like that sometimes and it seems to be when I take in too much dairy. You listed yogurt, ceam cheese and mashed pototo--maybe you should leave out dairy for a while.
