I'm set to have surgery in 5 days. This is a big step for me. My whole family is
going to be involved with my diet. I'm at 373 and need to lose at least 100lbs.
Life is good.

Hello!
I am new, I joined because I have read some of the comments and recommendations in here. I will have my gastric sleeve surgery on June 28, so is soon and I am a bit nervous. I will be going to the Jerusalem Hospital with Dr. Almanza, have read mostly good reviews about it and would like to have more information as what will I go thru and what should i do while the days are coming near.
I am a bit more worry about the trip, getting to San Diego and then crossing the border, than the surgery per se.
I will keep on reading all your wonderful experiences
Thanks for the welcome. I know how hard this postop diet is, I had a small step back myself. I have two bloodhounds watching my every step here.
My husband and dauther are always around, which helps me alot. But then again I also have five grandkids being feed here for lunch and dinner.
Talk about fun!
My surgery is the 27th. I have been doing a full fluid diet for 4 days now I found it much more tolerable once i moved into ketosis. My appetite deminished greatly. When I get hungery I drink water, have chicken, veggie or beef broth. Then I follow with a protien shake as a treat, as it is a little sweet. I'm trying to stay in the moment and not think about 5 more days of this. I have gathered that those of us who do manage to reduce our liver size have a more comfortable recovery as the liver requires less manipulating. I'm all for that! Also, I am so impressed that I am bale to do this. However, last eveing I was at a cocktail party, and had 3 shrimp and 3 strawberries.I was able to stay away from all the other treats. I do not feel badly as this was such a small amount of good stuff to eat. It is not like the restrictions of post op when you CAN NOT eash solids yet. This little treat was just wonderful!! Now, I shall continue with full fluids.
