I had my surgery on 1/24/2012. I was 210 the morning of surgery. I have lost 43 lbs so far. I have gotten discouraged at times because I felt like it should be coming off quicker, but overall I am very happy.
I'm not really dropping the weight quickly either BUT...as you have said, it doesn't bother me all that much because it's weight I'm saying good-bye to FOREVER! That's the greatest part of this whole surgery and the benefits after, besides not being hungry at all. For the first time in my life I'm not being driven by my passion and longing for food, namely everything sweet! My diet consisted mainly of anything sweet, in any form with some meat and potatoes thrown in there once in a while for good measure, and fruit of course. Veggies were few and far between on my plate. Now, I have to remind myself to eat really and although I don't have an appetite right now, I understand it does come back eventually. I'll wait for that to happen. In the present, I'm enjoying seeing the weight come off slowly and my energy returning. Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress.
Thanks for the post. I was just feeling the same way this morning. I've seen others with the same surgery date as me and some of them have lost double what I've lost. But I remind myself that I picked the sleeve becaue it was a slower weght loss, and as far as my skin goes, hopefully slower is better, and I'll have some time tone up. I am confident I will meet my goal,no matter how long this takes. I just need to remember to stay focused on me, and not others around me. Good luck on your journey.
You do not say how tall you are but I've read that the closer you are to 200 and the less weight you have to lose, the slower your weight loss. So, don't be discouraged, at least it's weight gone that won't come back! I keep telling myself that I wouldn't have lost this amount of weight in this length of time before (34 pounds in almost 10 weeks) so that keeps me from getting too frustrated. It's also better if you look at the percentage of body weight you've lost. So at a starting weight of 210, 43 pounds is about 21%. I'd say that's good progress! Hang in there!
