    Default Hiccups???

Ok, did anyone else start having the hiccups after surgery?? I'm 3 weeks out and at least 1-2 times a day i get the hiccups and they last anywhere from a minute or so to 10-15 minutes. Just wondered if i'm alone in this, i very rarely got them before surgery but now seem to have them A LOT!! Very distracting when i'm trying to talk to a customer on the phone at work!!!

Oh yeah, I still get the hiccups quite frequently! Usually once a day 4-5 days out of the week! It's annoying and I never got hiccups before surgery either LOL. My husband gives me a funny look every time I get hiccups.

Mine just started and I'm 10 weeks out. Every time I eat, I get the hiccups. This just started a few days ago. So last night I decided to eat super slow. I still got them, but not as bad. Who knows what it is. Maybe just our new stomachs still trying to heal up.

I had a spell of hiccups for two weeks after my surgery. Vey annoying. I figured it was part of the whole "gas" experience.

I get them when I eat or drink to fast! I just use it as a warning sign to slow down but mine are very light and only last for a minute or so!

I am 8 months out and I still get them when I eat too fast. I have always been a fast eater, so it has taken some time to get used to eating slow - but they are getting better!

i wondered if it was gas related but I've not noticed that mine happen when i eat ... maybe i need to pay more attention to that huh?!? Was talking to a friend this morning (hadn't eaten or drank anything for 1/2 hour or so) when they started and just didn't want to stop! Oh well, i know i'm a little "off" sometimes and wondered if anyone else had this too. Thanks for the input!!!

I get them when I try to eat like I used to (Normal) If I eat stuff that is very small or chewed extremely well and extremely slow it doesn't happen but most of the time it does.

    Oh yes,
and right after surgery they hurt real bad. But the good news is that after you heal they don't really hurt that bad. So yes it's normal.

I am having such a hard time with the pressure in the sternum and feeling like I need to burp but it won't come out. I have had to expel some what appeared to be mucous of something (my doctor called it "sliming" syndrome). does not happen to everyone, but I had it. hoping it is almost subsided. Things, even water hurts going down. Anyone else eperience this?

I got the pressure in my sternum too. The nurses in the hospital and then my hubby back home had to burp me like a baby. It was the only thing that worked. I still get the hiccups nine months out, we I eat too fast or that's my tummy's way of staying stop! The slimies suck too but that's when i ate too much or too fast. Doesn't happen anymore.
