i need support and feed back please.

i only have 2 more days till surgery but i havent had a bite of food since last thursday and im not doing so well with it. at times i feel like im loosing it. at this point im wondering if im gonna make it. do you still crave food and stay hungrey after surgery? please help me.

You can do it! I had my surgery almost 1 month ago and I really am not hungry. Not even when my kids make brownies and sit next to me eating icecream.

I think everyone is different from reading different peoples experiences.
Me personally - I dont really get hungry at all, and if i do, its really late in the night or early morning. But its not the type of gut retching hunger i used to experience before surgery - its more of a slight grumble, if that makes sense, its bearable.
I remember my pre op diet - all i wanted was to take a bite of something. i would sit there and imagine i was chewing on something. the thing you have to remember is that it isn't for ever. Soon you will be healthier, feeling better and eating solids again, and it will all be worth it!

Cindy...hang in there! It's almost time! I know it is sooooo hard but keep focused. You can do this!!!

The pre-op diet is killer. But after surgery you will never experience hunger like this again. Hang in there and know that you're fasting for a good cause--it will help your surgery go more smoothly. Hang in there!

no regrets. what so ever. it gets hard at some points. but you just have to fast forward a few months to when ur eating what your family are eating!
I cant wait for this time. im counting down the days til i can eat with a knife and fork... not just a spoon. Just remember its not forever... and its worth it!

I don't have any regrets. 1 month from now you are going to be amazed at how better you feel. Just remember in the next 2 days that this hard work is going to make your healing that much easier. Good luck and keep us posted.

thanks so much for replying. it so hard not to take a bite. just one bite is all i keep thinking about i wish i could just sleep till tomorrow. does the hunger and craveings go away after the surgery?

The pre-op liquid diet is the hardest part of the whole procedure. By day 2 I was so hungry I felt like I could eat a shoe! But that's because you're not sleeved yet. I promise the obsession with food and unreleting hunger do go away post-op. You have a smaller stomach, and you produce less ghrelin, so when you're hungry, it's not overwhelming and you're satisfied with much, much less. I did all my post-op phases (liquids, purees, soft food) with no issues or cravings after the sleeve. Hang in there!

You can do it! I know it's hard now but it will get so much better. I do get hungry every 3-4 hours and it's just an empty belly feeling. No regrets whatsoever!
