Heart Burn/ Acid Reflux

I am almost six week post op and dealing with what I think is acid reflux!!..The only other time this was an issue in my life was when I was prego. Seems to be no rhyme or reason and seems strange but when I am "stressed out" like when I try to deal with my little ones at the table, it's as if my stomache siezes. I can't swallow properly and just feel pain up through my chest and neck. Any one else experiencing something similar? Thanks, I am new to this and feeling very alone.

ok I personally havent had any heartburn or reflux,,,,and since you havent had any prior to surgery except during pregnancy .. I would say you are mistaking the tight, uncomfortable feeling after eating or drinking, for heartburn or reflux..... make sure you are chewing your food up well.... try to take nickle size bites and chew 25 times. when you feel tightness stop .... also drinking to soon after eating sometimes increases the full feeling...and makes any pain more intense....the uncomfortable pain or tightness should only last a few minutes.... and you should feel satisfied after only a few bites... make sure you getting your protein first...this way there is no room for carbs, etc...
if you feel like it is actually acid? you should contact your dr.....
the only acid feeling I ever feel is in my stomach area ..its kinda a knawing .... im hungry kinda feeling....and it was happening alot! so my dr prescribed me Protonix..it took a few weeks to kick in but the acid ... knawing feeling is subsiding! but about every 2 hours after eating I have to have a little healthy snack... sometimes its just a few almonds... but it seems to help keep the stomach acid working on food and not my stomach lining! goodluck to you! and great weightloss!

I'll be 6 weeks post-op this Wednesday and I am experiencing heartburn almost daily as well. I had a check up last week and they old me they repaired a hiatal hernia during the process (they hadn't mentioned this before). They also told me that heartburn can be normal for the 1st 3 months but afterwards it is uncommon and they prescribed me nexium. My only concern is that I could be developing an ulcer but only time can tell. Talk to your doctor and let us know what they say!! Hope you feel better.
