Nothing is wrong. The weight isn't going to fall off overnight. Keep doing what you need to do, you'll get there. You're off to a great start!

    Hi,
I was only having the shakes and clear broth and a little apple juice plus as much water as I could drink and an occasional cup of tea. I don't know what you are doing wrong but I know it will all work out. I feel I have plateaued out now and it has been nearly 2 months since my op.

    regards Julie..xx

Stop drinking sugar - Milk has sugar (even skim milk) try Almond Milk Unsweetened. No Fruit juice way to much sugar - Actimel has a lot of sugar also

Your body is healing and like PenBB stated, its not going to fall off over night. Give your body time to heal, listen to what it needs and everything will work out. I know its hard to imagine such a low amount of calories being consumed and logic tells us that we should be dropping major pounds. However, right now your body is holding on to everything so that it can heal itself. Stay off the scale if you are stressing so much in week 1. Keep following your directions, walk and give yourself time.

the soup is high in sodium too... be careful with that.
At the point you are at I was only on clear liquids and protein shakes.

also... your body goes into starvation mode and is trying to fight you back on losing the weight.

    give it time to adjust

Take a deep breath and STOP getting on the scale. I stalled after 2 weeks but am now moving downward. You're not doing anything really in particular that is wrong...the body has a mind of its own and you cannot, no matter what you do, make it do what you want just because you want it. This process is for the rest of our lives. Relax and let yourself heal. I understand being impatient for the weight to fall off, and it will. One thing at a time...now the healing and concentrating on really getting in touch with your body, its needs, your hunger level, etc. and what it takes to give you that full feeling. All will come in time. Good luck and keep us posted. Welcome to the other side!

I WENT THROUGH THE SAME THING, SEEMS TO HAPPEN TO MANY, HARD TO TAKE RIGHT AFTER SURGERY WHEN YOU ARE EXPECTING TO SEE THE SCALE DROP. BE PATIENT, KEEP DOING WHAT YOU ARE DOING (FOLLOWING THE INSTRUCTIONS YOU WERE GIVEN) AND LET YOUR BODY TO IT'S THING. i FOUND THAT EVEN WHILE THIS WAS HAPPENING I WAS FINDING MY CLOTHES GETTING LOOSER AND EVEN ABLE TO WEAR SMALLER SIZE, AND I MEASURE MY WAIST AND IT WAS LOSING INCHES. GET MOVING WHEN YOU CAN THAT HELPS THE EMOTIONS TOO. WELCOME TO THE STALL CLUB, DON'T LET IT GET YOU. i ONLY WEIGH ONCE PER WEEK. MORE PRODUCTIVE.

Well, 9 lbs in 4 days is not realistic because in real weight (not water weight) one lb is 3,500 calories So you would of had to have a 31,500 calorie deficit in 4 days to lose 9 lbs. Water weight can count for 5 lbs or more depending on your size. The heavier you are obviously the more water weight you carry. If I weight in the morning first thing and then again at noon my weight can be up to 2-3 lbs different. The weight will come off, stop weighing yourself and stressing over it and don't stress if you put back on a lb or two or even more water weight. Try to get your water in to keep yourself from retaining water and your body will release it instead of storing it. Watch your salt, sugar and carb intakes. It takes up 3 times more energy to digest protein than it does carbs. So go for the protein everytime first. I agree with Purplelace70 and only weigh yourself once a week. Also, I like this info here it will help later on down the road to read this when you hit a real stall. Weight Loss Stall or Plateau

What everyone else said but If you can tolerate it I'd keep drinking the milk since it DOES have protein, which you need however you can get it and liquids in any form are really important right now.

And, also, don't worry, this is normal, yadda yadda, change will happen it's just that a watched pot (or scale) never boils.

As everyone said, totally normal! I started at a similar weight as you and I lost 10 lbs the first week after surgery then stalled for a week and a half. Since then I've lost about 3 1/2 lbs a week for the last couple weeks. It seems like I'm not going to be a super speedy loser, but I'm ok with that.

Hi! You have gotten excellent advice from everyone. My surgery was jan 2011--and I am here to tell you that not drinking your calories, esp juices, is right on the money. Did you get a post op diet from your surgeon? If you are needing something sweet yet want the protein, try plain greek yogurt with a tablespoon (10 cal) of Smuckers sugar free jam. You are not really "stalling" yet, as someone else said, the weight doesn't fall off overnight.
Two things that have really help me are:
    1. "Eat right, exercise, work on your thoughts/emotions---rinse, lather, repeat!
    2. The sleeve is not a cure for obesity--it is just the last, best tool you will ever have. Don't blow it--from my surgeon, Dr. Robert Woodbury

Nothing's wrong. Your body's in shock from having gone through surgery and a drastic change in diet. And one week can hardley be called a plateau, more like a breather. Hang in there. It will happen!

Thanks for posting this. It was like you read my mind. I've been at 231 for a few days and keep thinking wtf! I'll stop obsessing over the scale for several days. Glad I'm not the only one feeling like this.
