Has anyone had a revision from Lapband to sleeve?

Hi Everyone.
I had lapband surgery over 1 year ago and it has not worked for me. I haven't lost any weight even though I am doing what I should be.
Tomorrow I go into my surgeon to talk to him about a revision to the sleeve and am just here looking for more information on it.
My band surgery went very well, no complications and recovery was a breeze for me. I was the same way w/ child birth and my C-section, it is how I work I suppose.
I am wondering if anyone else has had a revision and what they feel are the most differences from the band.

I have not actually had my revision done yet but am getting it done next week. I have had the lap band for 6 months and I hate it!! Some would say that I didnt give it a fair shake, but when you dont like it, you dont like it. I have also read that it isnt that much worse recovery wise than the band, but everyone is different. This board has a wealth of information and everyone is very friendly and helpful. Good luck on your quest!!

I had lapband in December 2009 and had it taken out in October 2011 and had sleeve done on December 15, 2011. With the band I had the always vomiting, chest pain/tightness and a lot of port pain. I did loose weight, but with all the complications started gaining the weight back. Gained about 30lbs back. As far as the sleeve goes, I love it. I know when I am full and don't over eat. Have only vomited twice and I think it was what I ate and not the amount I ate. I don't have the continous soreness I had with the port. I am loosing much more weight with the sleeve and it has been continous. Still slow for me because I was at like 195lbs when I had sleeve done. As far as the recovery, I was in hospital for 2 days, but really only needed 1 day. I was so ready to go the next day. Pain was very much tolerable and only had that gas pain on my shoulder for a day and gets better each day. The incisions are very similar, I didn't even go home with the Qpain ball and stopped my pain meds by like the 4th day.

Did any of you have the revision in mexico? I am paying out of pocket, and I HATE my lap band.

I also had my Lap-band in 2007, slipped in 2008, rebanded - only to constantly get "stuck". In late 2010/early 2011 the Dr. had to remove all the fluid from the band just to give me some relief--I was constantly getting "stuck". In 2012 I went back to my lapband surgeon and discussed options. He was 100% in favor of the sleeve over the lapband. He said the sleeve wasn't an option back in 2007 with him, and now it is proven that only 30% of lapband patients are successful in both losing the weight they need to lose and keeping it off 2+ years. I will say that when I had the band opened for that year--it felt amazing to be myself again, and not worrying about the "episodes" of "stuck". The sleeve already feels very different than the band ever did. It is my physical body talking to me when I gulp vs. sip . . . not the "stuck" from a device that I used to feel. I never had great success with my band, and I had I known that there was the sleeve option years ago--I would not have hesitated. I am now 12 days post surgery, and feel great. I am back to work full-time and transitioning to mushies. The feeling of fullness is SO different--better to me/for me with the sleeve.

I also have had my band for only 6 months I HATE IT. My surgeon has made me feel bad about myself and I'm throwing up all the time acid reflux and everything is bad I have lost no weight since my preop surgery and I exercise and eat right if i can. I'm wondering did is your insurance covering this and did you have to go through everything all over again to get your revision done? Any advice I'll take I go see my new surgeon next Monday and I'm hoping he will help me out and get this done as soon as possible if possible

I think it depends on how you do it. My doctor took out my band in october/12 and i had my sleeve done in december. My insurance paid for both. Now he told me insurance wouldn't allow both procedures to be done at the same time, but i am hearing that some people have had them both done at the same time. only thing is i don't know if their insurance covered both. anyhow i'm glad i did it at two separate times. I had absolutely no pain with my sleeve. Down 30lbs and feeling great. so far no more acid reflux, and no vomiting.

Good for you can I ask how long did you have the band and what problems did you have with it? I hate mine i really don't know what i'm going to do if they won't do the revision

i had it for almost 6 years. the past 2 years were the worse. Acid reflux and vomiting. food getting stuck, weight gain etc. I was so glad to get it out. It worked well enough for me to lose 130 lbs, but i gained back 70 i was so depressed and miserable.
