Do you still get heartburn after surgery?
I do, but that doesn't mean you will
Seriously though, if you've had GERD for years then chances are it's not going anywhere.
If you mean will you get more than before, really it just depends on the person.
Best NSV - fitting on a kid's amusement park ride with my 4 yr old grandson!
CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.
If I dont take my nexium...Cause I do try to go off it..but have to go right back on because I get bad heartburn..but have seen others on here whose heartburn ha\s gone away ...good luck

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?
I didn't have heartburn until my surgery, as I was taking my leak test the technicians asked me if I had heartburn and I answered no, their response was "you do now" as they could see the dye bubbling up. My doctor sent me home with a prescription for Prilosec and I have never suffered with it yet.
I had heartburn in the begnning, but now I take a nexium daily and never have any acid reflux, etc. Everybody is different and I know lots of people whose heartburn got better. In general, everything feels better for most people I come into contact with post-surgery. I never regret the decision to have the surgery and life is so much better. Continued success in making the best decision for yourself.
