for gas that is in your body cavity which was created from surgery, the only thing that helps for that kind is moving around and walking as much as you can.

for intestinal gas, everyone recommends the gas x strips that dissolve

It's rough in the beginning, but it will get better. Walk around as much as possible and the GasX strips do help. I found the more I moved, the better. Rest, sip, walk, breathe deeply and "this too shall pass"... Continued success and hang in there!

It takes about a week to FULLY get rid of it, the worst pain is gone after 1-2 days. I was also in incredible pain after surgery. As soon as you can, get gasx and try to burp and much as possible and keep moving. Good luck, i feel your pain

Walk, walk, walk. Just as everyone else has said. I just posted on replied on someone else's post. I started feeling better, gas wise, about day 4. I had my surgery on a Tuesday and came back to work the following Monday. I was still weak for that first week back to work. Then all of a sudden I started feeling better. I've had my bad days, but I've had some wonderful days too. It gets better. Give it time. To get rid of that post surgery gas, walk.

I was also in terrible pain from the gas, so much so, that I chose to stay in the hospital an extra day. Walking did help a lot, but what helped me most was using the spirometer they gave me in the hospital to take in deep, deep breaths (the kind that make you cough). The nurse said coughing was ok, so when I started doing that, the gas started moving. Hope this helps!!! Hang in there! It will be gone before you know it!!! I promise!

I did a routine of every time I woke up (sleeping two hours at a time). I would do my spiormeter then walk around the floor. At first I barely made it down the the hall and back. By the time I was discharged I was up to 5 laps. The gasx also helps. Everyone is different, so best of luck.

if the gas is in your back, find a corner of a wall and rub your back. the ride back and forth to the clinic hurts but it will also shake the gas out of you.

Just ask my daughters...I'm an expert on gas!...;p

What's all been said is so true, though telling you it gets better soon doesn't feel as good as a nice burp would...sorry,,

I found that shifting my position and rolling over in bed, (I know it's hard you have your drain) helps too...In fact, I'd like to volunteer to help you with your gas - particularly the rolling around in bed part!.. ;p

    Feel better!

How are you feeling now Cindy? I had a lot of gas, but not so much pain from it. More pressure and the odd 'stitch' feeling. I am a week out now and still have some gas, usually brought on by drinking.

Hope you are healing well! All the best.
