Default Anyone else have this problem?

I was just sleeved on May 2nd, got released from the hospital on May 4th my nausea has been so horrible all I've been able to handle is water and my pills and MAYBE a total of 3 oz of Isopure. It's finally starting to feel like I'm getting the nausea under control and I'm really scared to try anything else, plus I don't want anything else - my water appears to keep me satisfied right now...meaning I don't have any hunger or hunger pains.

Is this okay? I mean I know I'm suppose to get my protein in, but am I doing any damage by waiting until it feels right? I know I'm not that far out so I'm sure if this is still a problem in 2 weeks it'll be a different story.

I'm slowly taking in more water as well...the first day I was barely able to get enough to wet my mouth and now I'm noticing I can handle slightly larger sips. I'm thrilled that I'm not hungry but I'm afraid if I'm not getting in what the doc recommends this could have the opposite affect.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

You should be drinking broth by now.

Staying hydrated is more important than protein right now. I was only to start protein shakes after 10 days. By day 3, the day I came home, I had maybe 10oz of liquid a day. It was a battle but do what you can. Popsicles really helped to get fluid in.

Im right there with you! I was sleeved on the 3rd and I'm really struggling to get my protein in. Im having a lot of gas bubbles too. Sugar free Popsicles are helping me with fluid. Broth is great too! Isopure makes me really sick to my stomach. I ordered Nectar because it doesn't have the strong after taste that isopure has. I am going to try mixing Greek yogurt with protein powder today. I read that worked for one of the other sleeves when nothing else worked. It will get easier for us!

you need the water first then worry about protein ..you don't need to get dehydrated..it is not fun speaking from experience..

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?

When I was at your point, the 3rd or 4th day, I added the New Whey protein shot to my water. It comes in a test tube looking container and is 3.9 oz. and 42grams of protein. I put half in a large glass of water and sipped on that until mid afternoon and then the other half. I truly believe in water first but the protein really, really helps with the healing of the stomach, headaches and energy in the first week and thereafter. Good luck with these first few days, they are definitely the hardest but each day gets better!

I am 4 days post op. Yesterday I was starving and dared to try a potato soup that wasnt really liquid form and I was Immediately in the bathroom about to vomit. Realizing that wouldnt work, I managed to take in one small pudding cup over the entire day. Today (day 4) I have made a cream of chicken soup and added mashed potato (one spoonful) to the soup. It is delicious and satisfying! I still have pretty severe stomach cramps with each bite, but I think that is mainly from excess air hanging around.

You may be doing things a bit too fast, RNLMH. Is that the diet plan your surgeon suggested? Because doing soft foods after 3 days is REALLY fast. I was still on clear liquids. I think your reaction to the potato soup may be normal at this stage is normal, but throwing up is a big no-no so maybe you should downgrade a stage or two.

Dr. LaMasters should have given you a prescription for Levsin. Are you using that? It does help. I used it a lot the first week or two. Just work on very small sips. Tiny sips every 15 min or so. It will get easier. When I was just a few days post op, 1/4 cup of soup was about all I could handle. A protein shake took hours to get down. But you gotta stay hydrated. Use the chewable vitamins and calcium. You'll feel better soon.

I know I got 2 scripts for nausia I've been taking those like clock work...by the 6th I was finally able to get all my pills and vitamins down without feeling like they were going to come back up. I'm definitely feeling better as of today and I'm up to about 18-19 oz of water a day but still only at about 10-15 oz of protein (if that).

I'm still pretty content as far as not feeling hungry but I'm starting to think about all the food I can't have more and more each day. I really think it's all the commercials (lol). I'm going to try getting out of the house more, start walking for more aerobic purposes rather than just to move around - hopefully that helps.

    Thanks everyone for your suggestions
