Hi i was wondering is anyone afraid of the exess skin? Does anyone think the weight lifting will help with the skin issue. I was thinking about weightlifting once Im anlr to to try and avoid the saggy skin. Will it work?
Weight lifting does not change how your skin will shrink, but it will make you look better, firmer, is good for your health, preserves/builds muscle mass which will make it easier to maintain your weight loss over the long haul. Really good idea to strength train, but it doesn't directly help your skin shrink.
Most people, if you have been overweight a long time will have some sort of excess skin - but individual results vary. For me, my tummy isn't too bad so far (better then expected) but my inner thighs are much worse then i expected. Time will tell... but I expect i will always have some loose skin and will need to decide if i eventualy want to do cosmetic surgery.

I am hoping that exercise and weight lifting help. I've heard both yes and no regarding the weight lifting. I've also heard that skin brushing can help because it encourages circulation, and the increase in circulation will help improve the elasticity and cell turnover. Seems to me that exercise does that too. The only thing the doctors seem to agree on is that time helps, as the skin will tighten up to some degree naturally over time as it regenerates. I'm hoping I am patient enough to wait it out :-) If not, I'll also be saving for some additional surgery.
Get you a good compression garment and start wearing it now. Mine is a flexees brand and I love it!! I eventually will have a tuck but this garment is awesome!! Its like wearing a swim suit under my clothes and slims me up nicely. It is like a spaghetti strap tank top.
I like the flexee camisole! It really is pretty comfy and yet holds you in! They carry them at Costco but their size choices are limited. I was excited to fit in the biggest one they carry!
I also have some spanx for my tummy and thighs, but considerably less comfortable and i only wear it sometimes

I'm going to have to have a circumferential body lift (aka belt lipectomy) as I've got too much skin to pull off the mommy makeover. Will likely go through Dr. Lara, but am still researching everything. I also plan to have my breasts lifted and enhanced as they're disappearing rapidly. Hopefully in February or March next year. Please see link where we've been talking about this already. http://www.gastricsleeve.com/forum/b...next-year.html
