I, too, have been up a bit high on the carb intake in my opinion. Generally I try to just eat a normal, balanced diet like a normal, fit person but I have been feeling a bit of extra carbs and sugars creeping back in so I am making some more thoughtful choices this week. So easy to become unfocused when life gets busy!

    B- Atkins Shake, detour bar
L/S- various meats and cheeses, blueberries, carrots with hummus
    D- chicken breast and veggies

I have also been eating a lot of carbs, but I probably eat way more than many of you on a regular basis ever since I upped my calorie intake to 1200 minimum, and my carb intake went up to 100-120 a day when I did that.

I have noticed I am STARVING in the afternoons lately. 2 hours after lunch no matter what I eat (soup, chicken, steak, a burger, it doesn't matter), I am hungry and want more. And then when I get home at 4 I have this nearly uncontrollable urge to snack! Anyone else experience crazy afternoon/early evening urges to eat, eat, eat and eat some more?

When I was half way through my weightloss... I was still big but about to get to normal size, I really panic. I wasn't ready to face the world as a regular person (LOL! how ironic!) I started eating more crap. I emailed my therapist. She told me to focus on my health and not weightloss. Weight will come off if you exercise for your health and eat healthy food for your body. Mental health is so important in this journey otherwise we will lose the weight in 9 months and gain it all back plus some in a year.

    Menu today...

B: yogurt, apple chips, cashew butter, flaxseed mix in the yogurt
L: fish, egg & onion, tomato (didn't eat it yesterday)
S: leftover yogurt, tofu & pork
    D: meat & veggies
    S: 1 chocolate cookie

I ate three protein bar yesterday. OMG! But it was better than eating more carb. PMS sucks.
    (Goal!!! Maintenance Lane!)

Lee, I get that way at night. Usually around 9-10 PM. I have to get something to snack on and if I don't, I actually have a harder time getting to sleep. It's crazy. I have to get some rice cakes, pb & j, or nuts, or a granola bar. I've even eaten a tiny amount of cereal w/skim milk; something I hardly ever eat. It seems like this is my "hungry" time, and I'm not liking it too much. I do try to schedule the snacks into my meal plan as you can see when I post my food. I walked 2 1/2 miles last night, and noticed I wasn't as hungry at night though Maybe this will help me now.

I think I just need to ignore the urge. There is no reason for me to be so hungry between the hours of 4 PM and 10 PM, aside from eating dinner. Even walking Sasha for an hour yesterday right when I got home from work at 4 didn't help curb any feelings of appetite.

I've been told by the bariatric people I deal w/ that as the sleeve matures you may feel more hungry and that's just a fact of life. I hope that's not what's going on for you, but I'm pretty sure it's going on for me.

    Today's Menu:

    B: Fage yogurt
L: Cottage cheese and veggies, gotta love 'em
D: ham and veggies. Like Gayle I have a lot of ham (but not as much! Just leftover from Mom's and I haven't been eating it).

Good morning all. Woke up with half a sore throat (on one side) and a nagging minor headache. Glands a bit swollen on that side.

Lee, from your meal plans it seems you never include snacks. Perhaps if you scheduled them in and ate more times it might help with your current dilemma. I find that helps me, although I am not nearly as far out as you. My plan says to eat 6x's a day. I feel full most of the time. I am 11 mo post. Just a thought.

B: taco meat with salsa...going to La Tienda for weekly shopping after yoga.
    Then Walmart today.
L: deli meat, maybe turkey with hummus or a pickle
S: I have decided to forgo the sunflower seeds for a while and will eat a cheese stick with grapes
D: no clue. I made chicken and dumplings last night. I have made the same recipe for 40 years and it turned out terrible last night. What the hell?

I don't include snacks because I don't like to snack. I like to eat until I am full, so if I snack it's not just a snack -- it becomes a meal. And feeling full and satisfied for me means to be both full volume-wise and getting a good amount of protein in. Therefore, a protein bar, while sufficient in terms of how many grams of protein it contains, is not nearly enough volume-wise to make me feel full. If that makes any sense. It's better for me to try to avoid snacking as much as possible, otherwise I would be eating 400 calories 6 times a day. I've tried snacking with raw veggies and other bulky things, and it just made me hungrier.

Lee, I can't do these 100 calories snack neither. I could at the beginning, then it just didn't satisfy me. That is why I had to cut down to eating 4 times a day to cut calories. I think my meal is about 300 - 400 calories each. And then I have coffee w/ h&h.

Yeah munchkin, maybe I could try spreading out into 4 400 calorie meals, but I dunno. I'm afraid it will just lead to more eating LOL.

I don't know. I used to eat 6 times, then 5 times and now 4 times. I thought about switching to 3 times but I don't think I can do it. I will be too hungry.

You can always try eating 4 times a week to see how you feel.

Most of the time, a tablespoon of peanut butter or a piece of fruit does the trick for me in those times where I can't stop thinking about food....BUT, there are days when I could eat every 5 minutes ALL DAY! As time goes on, I am hungry more often and takes much more to fill me up.
Sucks! I had hoped I wouldn't have to diet the rest of my life, but I'm not one of those lucky people.
