EGD/hiatal hernia

I had my EGD today (pre-op requirement), and found out that I have a hiatal hernia. It will be repaired at the same time I have my sleeve surgery. Anybody else have this? I've heard from a few that the recovery for the hernia is worse than the recovery from the sleeve. Any thoughts?

I think it depends on the size of it. Mine was small, but I'm 6 day post-op with no issue. The only problem I had was the gas the first 4 days after surgery. Hope this helps.

I had some moderate pain from that area, but the morphine in the hospital helped.....they also gave me Roxicet which is Oxycodon with a cough suppressant....you DO NOT want to start coughing.....unbelievable pain...but yes, had more pain from that than the sleeve for sure...I am soooo glad it got repaired though....no heartburn for the first time in years!

I had a small one and it was repaired at the same time as surgery and I had no issues at all....Not much pain very minimal....
