Default at the end of my rope...

I am devastated. Here I am, 2 weeks out. I had only lost 3 pounds total when i checked a few days 3 or 4 days ago. got on the scale praying to have lost another pounds and low and behold...I GAINED another pound! I am now only 2 pounds down! I just broke down into tears. I feel like I have totally wasted $13,000, 10 days off work, and I have lost the ability to enjoy food and eat normally. I wish I would not have had this surgery. It would be different if it were working, but it obviously isn't working for me! I probably could have lost 2 stinking pounds on my own with a stomach again! I just don't get it. I follow every rule, I get my protien in, I only eat what is suggested/the amount that is suggested, I get my water in. I just want to turn back time. I wish I had not done this. How can I be such a failure when everyone else is posting 20+ pound losses by now and I'm somehow gaining?

Hunny calm down. You will loose. Your body is just in shock. It is just holding on to everything it has. Your going through alot of emotions right now. Hang in there it gets better. I promise.

I think the moto for the Sleeve should be "Slow and Steady Does It!" and it needs to be posted at the top of every Sleeve webpage. I've had to learn patience with all of this... it's been hard! I've lost my weight slow and steady. Since my pre-op diet I've lost like 2-3 lbs a week, with a few weeks having a few more lbs thrown in there and one week having a total stall/gain/stall thing going on. I thought I'd be shedding it off at warp speed. Our bodies are in shock at first and they really do hold onto everything. You will start shedding it, please try to be patient and STAY OFF THE SCALE! Remember that you are getting healthy. Your scale might not be showing it, but you are making huge changes that will impact the rest of your life. We gained this weight one pound at a time, we'll take it off that way too. Slow and steady does it! Good luck and keep your chin up. You didn't waste any money or time or anything else. It WILL pay off.

    (((((( Cheryl )))))))) - girl you needed a hug!!

Don't beat yourself up, once the initial shock to your body wears off - you will lose like crazy. I did the same thing, started with a big old stall and thought I'd screwed everything up right outta the gate. And now.. less that 6 mos later, I'm down 75 lbs.
Trust me, there is NO WAY that you will not lose weight. It's just not possible!
Stay hydrated and stop obsessing over the scale, you will be telling us a different story in no time.

Don't stress yourself, the surgery was well worth it. Your body is still healing, getting used to the change. If you had to lose weight before the surgery it will take a few days++ until your body settles into its new life style after all our bodies had a great shock from eating super much to nothing.

It will work, just continue to follow your doctors instructions. Try not to stress yourself!

    Hi Cheryl,
I know you feel defeated right now but your body needs time to heal. It's like your body has gone into shock and it's fighting back. It won't always be that way, I promise. I've personally lost 25 lbs. in 2 months. If I compare that to others, I guess I'm not doing as well. However, I have chosen to not compare myself - we're all different and some lose faster. Keep on doing what your supposed to and the results will follow.
Best of luck to you - keep us posted on your progress!
    Mary

You will be ok. You are only a couple of weeks ago. Sit back, breath, relax. You may still have IV fluids in you. The weight loss is very slow the first couple weeks for many people. It will happen. My loss has been slow from day one, usually getting 10-12 lbs a month. I know how incredibly hard it is, but try to stay off the scale for a couple of weeks. There will be a positive surprise for you. Good luck!!!!

One day at a time darling. I'm 90 days out and I see people who have lost WAY more than I have and we had the surgery at the same time. Everyone's body is unique. It WILL get better. But I know it's hard to stay positive. At the end of the day I always ask myself "Did I do everything I could today to stay on track?" Because that's all we CAN do.

You're going to do great! I stalled for 3 WEEKS after my surgery. What a downer! It sucked. I felt like you do and wondered why I went through all of this? As of Monday, I have lost 60 lbs! It will work and it will come off. Just give it time...keep up the water and protien! You WILL DO AWESOME!

I actually gained 8 lbs right after surgery, from the gas and huge amounts of fluids they pumped into me. It took me a week or two just to get rid of that. Hang in there, we all lose at different speeds. I know it's hard, but try not to judge yourself by everyone else's weight loss. Compared to others, I am the turtle in the race...but I am losing slow and steady.

TRUST me. You are still holding a lot of liquids and gases from the surgery. Your body is also in shock, as my doctor put it, and trying to figure out "What the heck is going on!" I was the same as you and after three weeks the weight just started dropping off. I cried too and the ladies on this site encouraged me and told me the same thing I am telling you. I am 7 weeks out and have lost 44 pounds. It will come off honey just keep going and it WILL Happen. Hang in there.

Hi - sorry you're having such a bad time. It could be that your body isn't processing the food and you need enzymes to help your system and pancreas. You may want to take enzymes and hydrochloric acid to aid your digestion and total body health.

I agree with everything that everyone here is telling you. I gained 4 pounds myself when I came home from the hospital! It was all the fluids they pumped into me! (Heck, I thought that the portion of my stomach that was removed would have weighed that much...felt I should have lost instead of gained!). And then your body goes into starvation mode and holds onto what it has, for as long as it can. Not to mention that you are probably consuming a lot of broth...chicken, beef or vegetable...unless you make them yourself, what you buy canned has got a LOT of sodium in it, and salt retains water in the body. Stick to plan, and you will start dropping pounds. Chin up!
    Diane
