Ten days and counting, however I have become very apprehensive in the last two days. I have been looking forward to this day for five months. I am on the edge and need facts and encouragement.

Had some issues with Dr. St. Laurent and was forced to find a new surgeon. I call my first choice, Dr. Sherman Yu and was able to get an appointment on my second call. My surgery was performed on September 24, 2012, my weight reached 318 lbs., on surgery day I weighed 288 lbs., I now weigh 244 lbs., and thrilled with Dr. Yu, who is the greatest. I had no pain after surgery (single incision surgery) and required no pain medicine, however, I was sick to my stomach for four days, after that it has been smooth sailing. I ride my recumbent trike six miles every other day and I am quickly getting back to my active self.
Hi Joanne 1958,
This will be the best gift you will ever give yourself! For me I am no longer embarrassed by my physical appearance, I have moved out of my cave and rejoined my family, we had a great thanksgiving and my family was amazed at my appearance, energy and involvement with the family. I was terrified prior to my surgery, and can now tell you it was a cake walk and would do it again tomorrow.
Now you can change your name from Desperate to Living Again!!! Congrats to you on your weight loss and your new lease on life! I am thrilled when I hear that people would do it all over again. Thank you for sharing with me every positive ccomment I read makes me more excited. You didn't have any complications? Energy levels really do soar? Did you have any co-morbidities? I have diabetes, high blood pressure and fatty liver am hoping to get rid of all of these with this surgery! Thank you so much!
I am scared too! I am 41 years old and I have had many surgeries (gallbladder, 2 csection, double mastectomy, tram flap reconstruction, craniotomy to remove brain tumor) I have went through chemo and over 120+ treatments of radiation and I am still scared... But I know if I don't lose this weight my chances of my cancers coming back are more than 80% higher... And I have an amazing husband and 3 wonderful children I need to be here for. My husband is really concerned with me doing this, but after both my breast cancer oncologist and brain cancer oncologist approved it and advised him it would lessen my chance of recurrence hat I think he is feeling a little bit better
