OMG My Parents are Freaking out

I finally get my husband to see the light and the benefits of me having the sleeve and I am booked in for the 3rd April. My parents are going to town about it! if only you'd eat better or if only you'd exercise more.... I am just shy of 38yrs old and anyone would swear that I am 8 and I have not cleaned my room!

I don't discuss the surgery nor can I be excited about it when I visit them because they just bring me down with all their negativity!!! So I have decided that their visits will be minimal for the next month until I get home from hospital.

My parents were none too sure about it either. I told them about it after my first informational meeting, so they had plenty of time to get used to the idea. Chances are your parents are just worried about you, and they think this surgery is too permanent or that you'll have complications. Give them time--and in the meanwhile stay away from them as much as you can until after surgery.

I'm 44 this month and I still feel like that little girl with my mom so I know what you mean. That being said, I still did what I felt was right for me!

I understand! My sister in law is giving me a fit. Of course she has never struggled with her weight. I wasn't going to tell her but my sister let it slip to her one day. My husband, kids and co workers are all very supportive.

You know what you need to do. Go ahead and get the surgery. Don't take on their negativity. Hopefully, they'll come around at some point. Either way, youdeserve to be healthy.

I went through this same thing with my family. I finally told then that Yes, I could lose the weight myself and I have several times. I just can't keep it off. I'm doing this for MY HEALTH. I am sorry that they don't understand but it's not up to them. I would love to have their support but it's not necessary as Im doing it anyway. I hated to be soblunt but it worked and they're pretty okay now. Good luck and stick to your guns.
