Default should i be honest on my food log?

Hi guys. i have my first visit with the dietician in a couple of days. they mailed me a packet an in one f the stacks of papers they require a 4 day food log. i am wondering if i should be honest or not. i pretty much have nothing but take out junk food and soda pop. im not sure if i should tell then that cuz i dont want them to think i wont be committed to life changes in my diet after surgery.

Did any of u guys need to ofo a food log? Were u honest? Can this hurt my chances of being considered a good candidate? Thanks!!

Change what you do starting today and you will have two days of good eating to include.

Well Hopeful Star. I don't think anyone here would need to answer that but you. Only you will be held to the standard of your own success. That being said your nutritionist is going to report to your surgeon and maybe make a recommendation. Though they would like to see movement in the right direction, you don't need to be perfect, they want to see that you HAVE the commitment. This surgery is only a tool and can work for you if you help yourself along. If you don't, your prospect for weight loss long term won't work. You can defeat the whole purpose and re-stretch your stomach and it will be all for nothing. That's why we all go thru all this testing and pschyc. exams to see if we're good candidates. Hope your insurance doesn't catch wind or they may deny you. A lot will depend on what your nutritionist says, you have to get by them as well as any other test, not perfect but that your headed in the right direction. Gwyn had the best advice I think anyone could give. Stop doing what your doing today and fly right from here on out. The things you continue to eat and drink are why we are all here...

Be honest... with yourself and with them.

It will show along the way that you have started with bad habits and been able to change them.

Well, Yes,It could. And I would not be completely honest. What difference does it make? You can't eat enough of anything after gastric sleeve to NOT lose weight. Your stomach will be way too small. So, I would not waste my time worrying about the eating habits you've got now. Just commit to the surgery, make sure they don't cancel you out due to bad eating habits, and change your habits. (Yes, I know a surgeon who refused a patient due to very poor eating habits.)

    Good Luck

I wouldn't say this is accurate. You CAN sabotage yourself even with the sleeve. You may lose in the beginning but poor habits will mean a slower loss and a possible regain and poor nutrition. This isn't magic. You need to make the changes now, be honest with yourself most of all and move forward. If the OP needs more time to get her head in the right place for this surgery, then she does. Why lie to yourself?
