    Default So frustrated!

Ok I was sleeved on December 13, 2011. I lost 20 lbs in the first month and then nothing since! I have been working out for an hour 5 days a week. I am maxing at about 1000 calories per day and burning about 400 of those at the gym. What am I doing wrong!? I haven't done detailed food journals until this week but just started with myfitnesspal. I am just about to go insane. I know I am gaining muscle with working out but when is that going to turn into me losing more weight? Any advice would help!

Maxing out at about 1000 calories?? Wow, I couldn't eat that if I tried! Are you varying your workout? Could be you hit an early plateau and your body is in starvation mode, so many things possible....do keep a food journal, we all react differently to different foods. And, don't let this get you down...if you are burning more calories a day than you are putting in, the weight will eventually come off.

What does your diet include? I can say at 2 months out I was only managing 300 - 400 calories a day. I'm 4+ months out now and only get in about 700 - 800 a day even now.

I had my surgery the day before you and hit 50 lbs 2 days ago. I joined the gym the 13th of Feb and started working out the 14th and have only missed 1 day since joining. I doubled my workouts that Saturday and started going twice a day doing 2 hours of cardio mixed with about an hour or so of weights and toning and then I do the sauna for 40 mins a day to sweat out extra water. I lost for 10 days after surgery and stalled for 16 days right after that then I lost for 3 weeks and hit another stall the 4th of February and didn't lose a pound until the 21st again. I only average between 5-600 calories a day and when I go to the gym I make my calories my goal not a time per say and each day I increase it just a little and right now I am burning 500-600 calories when I do go to the gym for my 4 hours a day but I also make sure I eat little healthy snacks all day. Maybe cut back on carbs and calories and get in more protein and fiber and you need to switch up your routine and keep your body hydrated as well. Other than that your fitnesspal is going to be your best friend and it really does help keep you on track. I know the trainers at the gym told me that the number of calories they give you in a day is what you need to get the weight off in a healthy way and the more you burn the more you need to replace so your body doesn't stall or start getting what it needs from muscle as that will lead to sickness and all the extra skin and other side effects.

Mine you out of all my calories I get 260 of them from my protein shakes and maybe 300 or so from actual food. I also limit my carbs to half the recommended amount.

well I am in the same boat! I was sleeve 12/15 and I have only lost 24 lbs. I stall for 2-3 weeks at a time. I also get about 800-1000 calories a day. I don't eat much carbs or sugars, but haven't been faithful with my protein intake or any exercise. I just really started walking this week. I guess I can't complain if I haven't been doing the work. I know I am loosing though because everything fits bigger and I am just loosing slowly on the scale. I just take it day by day, I am not in a race, I will loose, so I will get to my goal when I get to it. I decided not to stress, as long as I don't gain I am good!

    Ok...

1: Are you loosing inches??? Working out that much adds muscle. Muscle weighs way more than fat!!

2: Are you getting in at least 70 grams protein a day? I with my workouts need at least 120 grams a day to still loose weight.

3: How many carbs a day?? I never go above 40... Never never never...

Remember that if you are burning that many calories you may be putting your body into starvation mode. Starvation mode equals stall.

    4: Fluid, Fluid, Fluid!!!

Can you give an example of a food diary for an average day for you? I'm about 6 weeks post op and am staying around the 1,000 calorie mark each day.
    Example:
Breakfast: 1 egg omelette with a little fat free shredded cheddar cheese & a some smoked turkey - 200 cal

Lunch: 1/4 c cottage cheese mixed with tuna

Dinner: baked fish & green beans

snacks: 1/2 banana w/2 tbsp pnut butter
    5 reduced fat Ritz crackers
    Container Greek Yogurt

    I'm journaling every day & normally this = around 900 - 1000 calories a day
