    Wink Hello!

    Hello Everyone!
I am about to have my gastric sleeve surgery May 15. I am getting really nervous, and scared at the same time. I have been on my protein shake diet for 9 days now, and I'm staving. I'm new to the site, but I thought this would be a great place to blog, and to interact with people going through the same procedure.

Welcome Elizabeth, don't be scared. I had mine done Aug 2012 and I can tell you it's the best thing I have ever done for myself. All will go well and don't get discouraged.

You will love it! What is your pre-op diet? Everyone seems to be different. I was never hungry on mine, but I did get sick of everything be cold and mushy. The only warm thing I could have was soup (and oatmeal, grits, or cream of wheat - but I don't like those). You will look back and be so happy you did it. Every pound you lose before surgery puts you closer to your goal after surgery. Keep at it!

Welcome! Don't be nervous, it's going to be great Also, just remember that being hungry in this pre surgery phase will be the last time you're hungry! I haven't felt hunger or had my stomach growl since I had surgery. I'm really excited for you, you're going to wonder why you didn't do it sooner. And, this forum is great for info, venting, whatever you need!

Is it normal to lose 1lbs the first week of pre-op diet? I don't think I'm eating my 1500 calories, so I'm pretty sure that is why. Three protein shakes a day, with 5 oz of meat with two cups of veggies, and a half avacado.

I lost 26 pounds in two weeks I think? The weight fell off so fast for me but everyone is different. I recently stalled so I am on day 4 of the pre-op diet again. I have lost 5 pounds in 3 days. I'm hoping to drop 20 this time and then go back to healthy normal eating. Just do what your doc says - stick to it and you will be amazed at the results!

Best of luck to you! I understand. Today was my first pre op day. All I can think about right now is how empty my tummy feels. I'm trying to keep busy but afraid ill wake up in the middle of the night and make a kitchen raid when no one is up. Good lord I need help! Well I hope things go well for you, it will be so worth it in the end.
