Hello Diane. First and foremost, choose the surgery that is best for you but I will tell you why I chose the sleeve.
1. Least invasive of the weight lost surgeries
2. This is permanent...now...
When I am in a stall for a few days, I start my mornings with a protein shake again and that seems to get my loss going again.
The nutritionist I have said no carbs (bread, pasta, etc...) until you are 75% to your goal.
There were no stair restrictions from my surgeon. He actually was happy I had to do some 'climbing'.
Right now I am using spanx but will be getting a tummy tuck at the end of this year. I have had 2 c-sections so my middle section is beyond repair without surgery.
I didn't find out until the pathology report came back on the part of my stomach removed had a tumor on it. So, eventually I would have had this surgery anyway and it would have been accompanied...
It took me about 7-10 days to not feel achy any more but after that I felt GREAT! The chest pressure will go away with time. The first month or so you will have to sip, sip, sip and extremely small...
My surgery was September 28 and it still takes me 30+ min to get down an 8 oz protein shake. I can only eat 2-4 oz of protein at a time still too. But as it was said in an earlier post...everyone...
Mine is from the day I started the pre-op diet which happens to be the same weight at my consultation.
Baby powder actually irritates mine more. There is an anti-fungal powder called Zeasorb and that works well once the infection is gone, but mine requires 2 different medicated ointments :(
I have another 6 lbs to lose before I am in the normal BMI range and I haven't been there in YEARS!!! I am almost down to my HS pant size and after 20 years and 3 children, I couldn't be happier. I...
I have BCBSIL and my deductible last year was $175. Total to get the documentation for surgery and blood work, I think total out of pocket was no more than $500. Regardless of cost, I would have...
Your new stomach is still healing and can only take so much. I am almost 3 months post op and can only take in 2 oz of solids at a time before I am over-full. I weigh my food everyday so I don't...
I have BCBS of IL and what they require is Psych eval (mine was only 1 visit), 6 months of medically supervised weight loss in the last 2 years. I did mine thru my PCP from Feb-July 2011 and make...
I love my scale! This morning when I weighed in the numbers that came up was 199.0. I couldn't be more happy and thankful that my sleeve is working and my health is improving. Now keep in mind...
My gallbladder was removed 3 years prior to my surgery but I would have opted for it to be removed at the same time. That surgery was very easy and no pain associated. I did have a hernia I didn't...
I know everyone is different but I had my surgery on September 28 and I can still only take in 2 oz at a time.
My surgeon said that because of the high protein diet and the bad breath/taste left in your mouth he recommends mints or gum and lots of it. He never said no to gum.
I have BCBS of IL and it is true you need 6 months of medically supervised weight loss. I did this thru my PCP, and what they want to see is that you are checking in with your PCP monthly having...
It is so worth it in the end. I can't say I didn't cheat--but my cheating was with a bite of grilled chicken or a slice of lunch meat...nothing extravagant!
I am only getting between 500-600 calories per day and I struggle to get that. I met with my dietician a couple weeks ago and she said at the bare minimum I have to get in 500 calories and 60 gm of...
I received heparin shots twice a day when I was in the hospital--my surgeon does that for all his patients. I wasn't sent home with anything because they are expecting the patients to be up walking...
I have BCBSIL but I have the PPO plan. I can tell you that I had to have 6 months of medically supervised weight loss documented in the past 24 months along with a psych evaluation--this is required...
Another way to think about this is that you are SAVING your life! I will give you insight to my story. I decided I needed to do something to help myself last January when the previous month I...
If I feel I need a snack I eat one but I don't normally snack. I choose cheese cubes, jello, popsicles, or pudding for snacks. Always go with either low cal/carb or something with protein. ...
