Well it sounds like yoour haveing a good time. You must be a real kick. I am so glad to hear Val is doing good. and they fixed her hernia too. So today is the 29th how is she doing now. My husband and I will be staying at the same hotel you two stayed at. Did you get to go with Val to the hospital and be with her while she was there or did you have to go back to the hotel while she stayed the night there? My surgery date is the 3ed I am getting really excited. You two have a great night

Thats great news !! I arrive with my hubby o Friday and will be staying at the same hotel. Do they bring the meds to the hotel? How does that work? Thats my only concern otherwise; i am looking forward the privacy.
  4. Val and I are in Tiajuana right now. Were not able to stay at the recovery house due to me being here, and 15 others in the recovery house right now. It is really a blessing that we can't because they have been cooking there non-stop, and it would be too tempting. hey have us in the Hotel Ticuan right now at a special rate of $56 per night. Surgery went well and the Doctors were super impressed with all of the records and paperwork that Val had with her for them to look over prior to surgery. They were able to repair her hiatial hernia, prior to the VSG, which was great because that was what was causing the acid reflux. Val is having a lot of gas pains right now but thats all it is, is gas from the surgery. They took us shopping today. It was me and six women. They were giving each of the husbands a free shot of tequila, so each time the server would change I would claim another woman as my spouse and get another shot on the house. All of them had fun with that. Walking is really helping get the gas out of her system and help with the drainage. Thanks for asking about her. I will try to keep you updated as I can.

Thanks so much for the message. Im finally starting to get my bearings a little bit. Still having a few problems with getting enough liquid and protein down. Slowly getting easier. Day by day! The site has so much info, I never seem to be able to read enough on here. Or keep up with some of the threads I post in. Look forward to getting to know more peoples stories. Its nice knowing there are others out there going through or have gone through the same thing. Helps, alot.

Thanks for the kind words Lewis! Here is my perspective on pain ... it is largely contextual ... that is, how a person reacts to pain has a lot to do with the context they experience it. I read and read and read everyone's stories about their surgeries. I expected to be in miserable awful pain ... when I wasn't, I felt like "hey, this is tolerable' ... I can work through this. In the context I experienced it, it wasn't all that bad compared to what I expected. That isn't to say some people's pain isn't horrific ... I'm sure it is ... I just think sometimes people expect to be miserable and allow that to become a self fulfilling prophecy. Don't get me wrong ... I have pain ... Having some serious gas pains as I write this in fact ... but they pass and then I feel alright. I have abdominal pain ... but it isn't so bad i can't walk, laugh, cough, sit up, etc ... so I don't let it stop me from doing the things I know will make me feel better faster. It's the only way I know how to do it. My wife will tell you though, I can be a huge baby ... if I get sick, or get an injury that I wasn't expecting ... not quite the same approach ... all context, I think.

Spouse and Partner Sleeve Support Questions

by N2DVN_Hubby on 12-06-2011 at 12:08 PM
Hello, my name is Lewis and I am here to support my wife in her VSG journey. I have learned many things since starting, and will be glad to try and answer any questions anyone may have concerning the VSG process. Our surgeon is Dr. Mario Almanza at Jeruselum Hospital in Tijuana Mexico, and our surgery date is set for January 24, 2011. Remember the only non-intelligent question is the one that you do not ask!
