    Seth, how did you accomplish the "weight loss so far" ticker and icon on your signature? I'd like to put something similar on mine but can't figure it out.

    I think that's great about purchasing the Harley! My husband is of the other camp but I too would love it if he got a trike! I would feel safer..good luck I am sure you will get there! Heather

    SethP HAHAH Dont let my husband hear that he did have a massive honda Valkyrie but has swapped it for a Honda sport bike and its more nippy around the mountains! But i had my time on Bikes i had a Suzuki when i was 21 and i my then tall boyfriend rode it off a small bridge we flew through the air and landed in a river...that was 1976 a very hot summer in England..so now when we glide around a curve although i am a perfect bike passenger i have never forgotten the feeling of falling as we went around the curve! so i dont go out often with Jim on his bike even tho he is an excellent rider!
    Yes i am ok with losing less fast as i am trying to tone up now and worried that i might not do it and have flappy bits - gonna post this on your page too just in case you dont see it! Thanks SethP

    Hi thanks for the good wishes! It has been 4 days since my surgery and I'm feeling much better today! How is it going for you?

    Thanks so much for the support! I did have to go to a crawfish boil yesterday. It was for all the staff at work. I managed okay. I talked a lot, peeled 'em slow, skipped the potatoes and corn, french bread and beer. Drank my unsweetened tea. I ate more than I would if I had eaten at home, but way less than I usually do! I have one more day of work (I bet at least one of my kids gives me chocolate) then the weekend and my parents will be here. I already warned them no big meals, but my parents are great cooks and one of the biggest ways they show affection is with food. They don't get it and they're too old to change. At least they can feed my kids. LOL! Wishing you continued healing!

    Hi Seth - ok I get your job now and wow that is going to be hard but I know, we do what we have to. I came home as I said to six kids who thought out of hospital equaled fine. Definitely wear a brace - a support compression garment - every day to support your stomach which will be swollen. Not just your back - they make ones that hold all the way around your tummy as well. And they make them for men - harder to find but if you go online I'm sure you can get one. You do not want to be on that rig and have the internal stitches pop! The garment will rub on your incisions but if you pad them well before your shift begins they should be fine and then when you can rest, just air it out. I will be praying for you Seth!

    Hi Seth, thanks for your reply to my latest blog post. What I would say about work is that if it is necessary to go back as soon as you are planning (and I GET IT) then please make sure your family know that once you get home you are done for the day. Easy to say but you've got to do that, you need that rest and literally just focusing on trying to eat slowly, take time to digest, and take time to rest. Of course I absolutely pray you will have the great recovery many here have had - but its good to plan for a longer deal so that your family are ready with the proper expectations and you are getting what you need. I wish you well!! Blessings

    Hey there. I'm doing real well and I thank my lucky stars that my low BMI means I don't need to do the pre-op diet. My life and outlook would be vastly different if that was the case.
    Apart from the diet and the limitations of your location how are your finding your anxiety levels? Elevated or as steady as a rock?
    Wishing you well.

2015 around the bend

by SethP on 12-29-2014 at 04:30 AM
Just sitting here tonight thinking about the new year that we are all facing. I always find it a time to look back on things accomplished and things left undone. We have just finished celebrating Christmas and now we are getting prepped for New Years Resolutions. I think that 2015 for me will be another year of changes. I think it is time to get up off the couch more and finally join a gym. We have talked about it many times but that is all it has been is talk.

This year it

Medical Update

by SethP on 11-12-2014 at 02:35 PM
So yesterday I went for my bi-annual visit with the Endocrinologist for Type 2 Diabetes. I have been seeing him for about 5 years now. For the 3rd visit I can happily report that my A1c is 6.6. He was very pleased that the diabetes has been held in check now for 18 months with the help of the sleeve. On another note, my Triglyceride level has dropped from 535 to 239 in the last 6 months. I can safely say that having this surgery has saved my life.

IF you are on the fence about

It goes both ways

by SethP on 11-04-2014 at 09:44 PM
I just felt like it was time to put out some insight from my perspective, it is my opinion and some might not find it popular but it is mines.

Discrimination has been mentioned many times on this site and many comment on how they are now thinner they are treated differently. I am a man and I will say that I am treated differently by men and women alike. Being judgemental of someone is not only a male attribute but a woman's as well. It is in human nature. It is a defense mechanism

by SethP on 10-31-2014 at 04:56 AM
Today starts the Holiday Season with Halloween, Thanksgiving and then Christmas. I want to start off by wishing everyone a Happy Holiday Season. During this time of the year we should all spend a little time to relfect inwardly. Many of us have new lifes that we could have never achieved without the help of our sleeves. Some of you I have been following for 18 months now and some of you I have recently made the aquaintence of. It doesnt matter where you are in this journey, we all have things

Wisdom

by SethP on 10-20-2013 at 01:00 AM
God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

This last few days have been tough. There has been a lot of drama going on around the forum and I am not crazy about it. It appears that some people feel the need to lash out when somone posts their personal opinion. We all have opinions on things and that doesnt mean that we are right or wrong but it is our opinion. Our
