I wish I could tell you there would be no pain. But that would not be realistic. Yes there will be pain. How much depends on you. One thing is for sure it's only temporary. Think of it like labor. It hurts and hurt until the head and shoulder come through. Then once the baby is out, its all gone. The weight loss is your baby now. Just remember you have no time to think about the pain. To me thinking and worrying only makes it worse. Once you get out of recovery they will give you about 2 hours to rest. Then the will get you up to walk. Walk as much as you can. Try to get up on your own. Don't depend on the nurses unless you have to. If you do it on your own the shorter your hospital stay will be. One thing that helped me this time was to take really deep breaths, hold it and let it go. But breathe using your abdominals. do it several times a day. You need to strengthen your abs as much as possible and also your lungs. Take a small pillow with you or a teddy bear to clench to your chest when you have to cough. you will be fine. keep in touch!!!!

I can see your anxiety. First breathe!!!!! I know the pre-op part is a little hard. I didn't lose much weight. The thing is,it is preparing you for what's to come. After the surgery i was still a little hungry. See I had a lap-band already and now the sleeve. So i know how much i can push myself. Now i know you may be new to all of this. Please think big picture, and long term goals. This is only temporary and it will get easier. What's going to happen is you will start losing weight as soon as you have the surgery, and you will be on your way to the losing side!

Im doing great, thanks for asking! Fear is a normal part of this, but dont stress yourself out about it. Just educate yourself & read as much as you can, on this site & anywhere else you can find. Isthere something in particular your scared about?
