Dear Bergamini, Thank you for your latest post re: staying positive. I believe this is a forum to share experiences. Since I am still deciding whether or not to go through with the procedure, I have been curious to read both sides of the sleeve story. I need to lose 50 lbs., and I am at my wit's end. I realize the sleeve is a drastic measure. I would appreciate if you, or anyone else who is reading this, could tell me if the benefits of this surgery/lifestyle change are worth the risks. Thanks again.

A "big pain baby," that is great! I am a complete wuss. That was why I just had to ask. I know it is different for everyone, but it is still nice to hear from someone who has been through it. How were you feeling after the first week? Or second week? I am glad you recovery is going so well. You're right, it will be worth it. ( I keep telling myself that already.) My pep talk so I do not chicken out, and continue retaining my funds for the future occasion. I have awhile before the time comes.

That is so great that you had a nice time on your trip. You you were suppose to bring the warm weather back with you!
    Have a great evening.
    Thanks

Hello bergamini. I have read a few of your posts. Thank you for sharing your experiences. I am very curious how you are doing and recovering from your last procedure? And how was your trip? I am hoping in maybe a year and half I will be ready for a body lift, and some other much needed reshaping. Thank you. Ms.J

John, I am right next to CamRock county park. Its a HUGE park w/tons of biking & hiking trails. The walk from my house to Cambridge is 3 miles. A very nice bike ride. Are you a mountain biker? CamRock is known for uts challenging mnt bike trails. One if.my daughters favorite parks is a nice 1 mile walk from here. You should check it out.

I remembered that you have the enviable problem of having to shop often as your weight journey continues. Just saw a Joseph A Banks commercial - buy 1 suits, get 2 free and I think they donate one to servicemen in need. Nov 12-17

Thank you for thinking about me yesterday! You look WONDERFUL, you really do! So happy for you! I am about 15 lbs from goal but...don't know if you heard (didn't broadcast it here...too sad) but I was recently diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer w/Lymph Node involvement. I will be undergoing chemotherapy within the next 10 days or so for approximately 5 months, followed by radiation therapy x 2 months or so, followed by more IV therapy. Want to "hold" my weight for a bit 'til I see what havoc chemo wreaks on my body and appetite :0(

So nice to know I am in your thoughts, as you are in mine. Please remain in touch. Keep up the great work...you look incredible, you must feel great...you deserve this! Fondly, Toni Lee

Pic 29 Months Post Tummy Tuck & A Few Oldster's Thoughts

by bergamini on 03-22-2016 at 01:57 PM
I've been negligent in posting a recent tummy tuck pic. Here it is! I had my sleeve on 11/30/2012 and TT on 10/22/13. I had a very fast functional recovery. But oh the pinkness. I was pink for years! It is still lightly pink. I presume part of that is because I'm fair skinned. But it was a bit frustrating looking like I had been cut in half for a few years. I was a bit self-conscious. It is much improved now.

I've seen a lot of women who have had TT and a few of them have

Holy Cow - 3 Years!

by bergamini on 11-28-2015 at 11:44 PM
Monday will be my 3rd anniversary of being sleeved so I figured it was time to post to the blog. Hope you all are doing well!

Maintenance is a b*tch. No way around that. My first year of losing was easier than my first year of maintenance but this last year of maintenance has been hardest of all. The upside is that I'm at a relatively steady weight. I had gotten down to 165-168 for a few months after my tummy tuck, then got in the 170-175 range. This past year I got up to 178#

Thoughts 27 Months Out

by bergamini on 03-09-2015 at 12:37 PM
I've been meaning to post a blog entry but haven't in a while. So here we go.

I'm 27 months out now. I started at roughly 300# and dropped to as low as 165# before leveling off at 175#. I'm 5'11" so this is a good weight, and even if my face looked a bit gaunt I ultimately would have preferred 165# but it is what it is.

I eat more than I ever imagined I could. I eat really clean probably 4-5 days per week, have some naughty days on the others. I cannot pretend

A sleever runs a marathon! (26.2m)

by bergamini on 05-19-2014 at 10:34 AM
Sorry for my very infrequent blog posts, I've been busy as usual: new job, new digs and I have been training like crazy for my first full marathon (26.2 miles), which was this past weekend in Green Bay, WI (Lambeau Field).

I finished! I wanted to run 9:30 miles, but I ran closer to 9:50. I actually ran ~ the first 20 miles at 9:37 but then hit a wall around mile 22 through almost mile 25 which slowed my pace down a bit. I perked up then and ran the last 1.2 miles at about a 9:10

PS#8: 4 Months Post PS Op w/Pics and My Journey 15 Months Out

by bergamini on 03-04-2014 at 09:35 AM
It's been a while since I've blogged. I admit it. I am a tiny bit frustrated at some of the whining on here. I snapped at someone who basically felt like they were a failure because they "only" lost 5# in 7 days. I struggle with understanding people who are so despondent about a number on a scale when they are getting healthier and healing each and every day. I was SO terrified of a leak, or worse, during my post-op recovery that the weight loss was very much secondary. I just wanted
