hard mass underneith incision...

so underneith the incision that is the largest i have a hard mass probably the size of a golf ball if not a lil bigger u cant see it you can feel it and i am 2 weeks out and that spot still hurts,, has anyone else had this?

No I didn't have anything like that - might want to put in a call to your doctor just to make sure.

I'm 15 days out and the skin underneath the length of my incision is firm but not golf ball shaped. I feel mine is normal healing but it's definitely firm.

Its not unusual for that one to hurt the longest but the mass or lump doesn't seem normal. When you go to your next followup be sure to point it out to the doctor, if it hasn't gone away by then.

It may be a clot or a hematoma that formed there. Definitely call your surgeon and let them know!

I am 12 days out and other then the length of my incision a slight raised spot and a all. I would contact your doctor immediately. Perhaps the inner stiches did not take and you have a slight hernia. I pray not.

My incisions all popped wide open after the sutures were removed. No hard masses underneath but the skin around it is very hardened with tissue. I'm not sure about the lump. I'd get that checked. My surgeon friend said for openings use Bacitracin and butterfly bandages. Antibiotics are really important!

i had the same problem and i dont want to scare you......but mine turned out to be an infection.....i didnt have any s/s so when it burst it was a big surprise to me....now im having to deal with an open wound that i clean daily....Good thing im a nurse otherwise i would be gagging lol..Go see your surgeon hon

I am dealing with an infection right now too. out of 5 incisions got infected and one I have to keep closed with butter fly bandages. Make sure your doctor takes a culture if you have an infection. You do not want to end up with something like Mirsa. My culture comes back monday.

I agree. Call your surgeon. My surgeon's office gave me surgical scrub sponges and some antiseptic soap to scrub my body down prior to surgery. I have to do it the night before and the morning of from the neck down.

I agree don't take any chances with that. Go have it looked at.
