Do I still need my BP meds?

Hi everyone,
I've been having some slight dizziness,and weakness especially in the heat and I'm wondering if it's too soon to think that maybe I don't need my meds for Blood pressure. I'm only 10 days out from surgery, but have lost over 30 pounds since the week before surgery. How do you know if you need to go see your regular doctor about possibly stopping BP meds?

Sounds more like your getting dehydrated. How much are you sipping? Should be at least 64 ounces especially if you are out I the heat. and remember you just had major surgery, so yes, you will be weak. Call your md for a follow up appt but don't stop meds on your own. It can be dangerous. Just keep in getting those fluids in and you will start to feel better. Good luck!

I agree with Honey...with the heat you need to make sure you get all you water in...never stop your meds on your own. I would recommend you make an appointment with your doctor and let him/her make the decision to stop or decrease your BP meds. Keep us posted please. Chele

Talk to your primary care physician.
Get a BP monitor and check it daily.
Keep hydrated.

Now that I think about it, I probably am dehydrated...I know I didn't get my water in yesterday and I was outside most of the day in the heat. I'm eating more protein, but it's harder to make room for fluids. I know I have to make it a priority!

are you checking your bp? check when you go to the store if you don't have a cuff, I was checking mine ea time I had this episode, and it was very low, I had the same thing happen to me and i had to have mine adjusted, came off of 2 of them! call your dr asap

And what is "meds"? If you're taken more than one your Dr. may want you to cut just one right now. Get a monitor.

see your regular doctor about your bp meds....I had lost over 100 lbs before I was able to give them up completely...I really thought it would have happened sooner than that and was getting pretty bummed...but was a great nsv the day I threw the bottle away! definitely stay hydrated in this heat....I run an hvac company in texas and have 2 guys out right now with heat exhaustion...its scary and dangerous!

I've lost 70 lbs so far. Started off on 3 bp meds 4 pills a day. Now I'm om one med twice a day. Am completely off all type II meds. Just takes time.
