Yes Kelly had a death, not what I wanted to hear. I'm going with Garcia and I postponed my date for the 10th of february
I had my surgery on Dec 11, 2011 with Dr Garcia at Hospital Mi. I could not have been happier with my choice. He is an excellent doctor and all of his staff were excellent. I am close to 6 weeks out and have lost around 30 pounds. Will be glad to answer any questions about Dr Garcia. I was in Chicago this past weekend for a short vacation as I had never been to Chicago. It happened that Dr Garcia was doing a WL seminar there and I went to see him and thank him but he was on his way when he got called back for an emergency with his young daughter. His assistant came and the conference was great and I learned even more than I knew before the surgery.
I just found this very recent thread about someones experience with garcia and the hospital!!! Dr. Garcia In Tijuana, Mx- Disgusting Place - Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forum
wow after reading that .. makes you wonder.... my question would be if she was there with other people who was with Dr Kelly would there not be the same staff/hospital ?? I don't know....It sounds like a horrible experience, poor thing.. but at the same time, this is one persons perspective so, take it with a grain of salt... Best thing I think is to consider overall number of experiences and if there is a trend with people and how their experience went...
I still do not know who I am going with..still taking into consideration ..thank you Licilu for sharing
I was in the same boat.. scheduled for Dr. Kelly for 2 months, got my Molina band removed and that same week the coordinator starts telling me that all of a sudden she doesnt feel confident that Kelly is the right surgeon (blah blah blah) and tells me to go with Dr. Garcia. For the revision of the band I had for 17 years, I wasnt comfortable with Dr. Garcia's experience (nothing against Dr. Garcia as I have read great things about him. This is more about the Molina band and the scar tissue that it leaves when removed) I tried to book with Kelly but because his new office does not take FSA Mastercards, I had to start researching again.
I found that Dr. Jose Rodriguez, although a little more expensive at $6800, has the experience I am looking for and is familiar with extensive scar tissue revisions. I have spoken with him and a few of his patients that were revisions also and they spoke very highly of him, the hospital, and his staff. I am very confident that he is the right choice!
I am scheduled to be in Juarez, MX @ Star Medica on February 10 - 13. My actual surgiversary (and rebirth) is February 11th. I would be more than happy to chat if you ever need support during our new journey! Good luck!!!
