Default Adrenal Insufficiency / Adrenal Fatigue

Anyone diagnosed with it? I recently saw my MD for frustration with losing VERY slowing since surgery. I had a saliva test last year and was diagnosed with it. This year, I had a repeat saliva test and TONS of labs, and was diagnosed with a relapse, along with mineral deficiencies that most likely have been there prior to surgery, which lead to the inability to lose weight before my VSG. Among the deficiencies are hydrochloric acid, DHEA, D and B.

Anyway...just curious if anyone else has this trouble!

I have not been diagnosed with it recently, but was a few years ago. Now, I try to recognize my signs before I collapse. Stress is a huge factor. I had to learn how to reduce my stress level. I get b-12 shots when I need to and try to take my vitamins on a regular basis. Once the adrenal glands are totally fatigued, it's hard to bounce back. But, it's doable Hang in there.

Thanks for the response. I'm so exhausted all the time, no libido, and just not feeling great. Most days, I feel like I'm operating at about 80% of good. Joint pain, stiffness, headaches, blah blah blah. I started on a few supplements to help, but am ready to finally feel better. Did you have trouble losing weight when you were diagnosed? I am so frustrated that I spent money on this great surgery and am doing everything right, but am still struggling.

Yep, I sure did. They also discovered I have cyst on my thyroid about the same time. So far, they are just watching the cyst to make sure it doesn't grow. You can still lose weight, you just have to get your adrenals under control. Is your doctor helping you out in this area? You mentioned the DHEA and I took that for a bit, but it really messed up my hormones so I stopped that. For me, I had to up my protien, take B-12 shots every 6 weeks and then I went to the Whole foods market and got some Garden of Life Multivitamin, Perfect Food Raw Organic 240g Powder and drank it daily. However, the best medicine is to learn how to find time for yourself, relax and don't let stress overload you. I also went to counseling to be able to put boundaries up with my kids because they used to run all over us. When this started, my daughter was 15 and out of control. Running off with people, drinking and who knows what. I was so stressed I didn't know how to cope. Now, I still have some of these issues and I fight the adrenal fatigue, but my husband understands it more too. If I need to go rest, I do. Warm baths for the muscluar and joint pain helps too. Did they check your testosterone levels too? I know we aren't supposed to have a lot, but we are supposed to have a little and with adrenal fatigue, it can be low. My doc put me on a little testosterone cream to help with the libido and energy. It did help Hubs was happy-LOL You can still do this, you made the right choice with the surgury. I am losing (at a stall now) but before, I would seriously lose less than a half a pound at weight watchers and be starving all week! Take care of your self, it will happen.
