Did anyone experience this? It wont go away. Ive been sleeping with ice packs on them..... Any advice on how to relieve this? And.how long did it take to.go away.? Its drivinh me crazy!
Yeah the doctor said it.is trapped gas.... Ive been walking a lot! They called me the energizer bunny at the hospital lol. But my dr says the walking wont relieve the shoulder pain. Its so uncomfortable I keep waking up and cant sleep for too long! Like its 430 am and im up!!!
Like the pain when swallowing this suddenly disappears too! Its like your dr says, its the gas pains. They have to leave our body somehow and i was told that the shoulders are where it travels to. It eases and nothing seems to relieve it. Each day it will seem easier until one day its gone
Left shoulder pain is actually referred pain from a nerve that us affected during the surgery. One of the most common complaints of pain is left shoulder and lower back. It is a long nerve that runs up the abdomen, to the chest area and down the left arm. My surgeon warned me of this pain but luckily it never affected me. Keep on your pain meds. Good luck. It'll pass.

Hi,
I'm dealing with the same thing, so you are not alone. My surgery was Thursday, Dec 15th. It was so bad last night that I did some stretches that didn't put any pressure on my stomach. Basically I just bent at the waste, faced my bed, squatted, and stretched my arms as far as they would go across my bed. Talk about hearing every crackling noise in the world. It did offer some relief. I keep telling myself that it will get better, and it will! Just hang in there!
Heat was my only relief as well. It is such a nagging pain the pain meds did not help at all. Heat was the only relief. My husband found this long bean filled thing that could be heated or chilled. You just microwave it and wrap it around your shoulders it felt so good. It will go away eventually my was gone within a week. best wishes to you!!!
I had this too - if I hadn't been warned I swear I would have thought I was having a heart attack. I know they say they don't help, but I took about 3 of those gas-x strips/day for the first few days and they HELPED. Also the moving around and using the breathing-nomometer thingy.
I agree with the above, the gas x strips DO help even though it seems like they wouldn't because the gas is still trapped in the cavity, but it helps to relieve the gas thats in the stomach and intestines, and make room for more gas i suppose. either way, it helps, and the pain DOES suddenly go away. my left shoulder was horrible, there were actualy lumps in it, from the gas.
I am with those that believe the gasx strips really helped! 2 or 3 every couple of hours and lots of walking. Shoulder pain was the worst. Google laproscopic surgery and shoulder pain for full explanation of why you have it. But it goes away in a few days so just hang in there!
