Gastrointestinal surgery for obesity, also called bariatric surgery, alters the digestive process so as to achieve rapid weight loss. The operations can be divided into three types: restrictive, malabsorptive, and combined restrictive/malabsorptive. Restrictive weight loss surgeries limit food intake by creating a narrow passage from the upper part of the stomach into the larger lower part, reducing the amount of food the stomach can hold and slowing the passage of food through the stomach.

WLS have Gastric Bypass and Gastric Stapling surgeries. Gastric Bypass surgeries consist of Roux-En-Y Gastric Bypass (RGB) and Biliopancreatic Diversion (BPD). While Gastric Stapling surgeries consist of Adjustable Gastric Banding (AGB), Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG) and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG). You can go through Wikipedia for more info.
There s a lots of weight loss surgery bur bariatric surgery is one of the best and reliable in all around the world. It is one of the success for lose the weight. It is really so much good for lose weight.
Had band in 2010 going with the sleeve in april with the band i had trouble right from the start, now Dr wants it out my esophagus is so tight the band is half full i cant eat if they did any more fills i would chok so its coming out i lost 68 pounds and cant loss any more.
I've looked at gastric bypass....then 10 years ago looked at the band.....I came pretty close to getting the band ....I just didn't like the thought of the band in my body...and the fills....I did feel comforted it was reversible...com fat forward to the sleeve.....it took me some time to finally do it but I am happy I did....I am pretty good at losing weight.........but I needed the extra help art this point...and the restriction will help me keep it off....as long as we stick to our schedule of eating and loss everything...we certainly can't binge like wee used to.
I didn't consider anything other than the sleeve. In fact I would not have gotten any other surgery, I would have skipped it.
The thought of a chunk of silicone in my stomach would make me feel like I couldn't live near normally, it's psychological I know but I'd be afraid to wear tight pants or even have s*x in some positions. Nope, not for me.
The issue with RNY for me would be nutritional. I have always had trouble with malabsorption and the sleeve left my body in as close to normal plumbing as possible.
I understand I may have dropped more lbs if I had the rny but for me, it wasn't right.

CFIDS =Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) Also dx with post-bariatric reactive hypoglycemia; and chronic gastritis (both sleeve complications). Permanently disabled.
Start weight 335, down to 218, up during gastritis. Have accepted there is no way to lose it with my hypoglycemia. Current weight 260. Currently doing 10 day sleeve reset and determined to get back down to my post surgical weight or close to it.
I don’t like to prefer any weight loss surgery personally, because all those have after effects. So try to lose weight by doing physical activities.

Hubby had R-N-Y 4 years ago and tried to talk me into it, but didn't feet I was a candidate and didn't want that drastic a change. Did not every really consider the band, know too many people who have had trouble, didn't keep the weight off, etc. Thought about the sleeve then, but money was an issue, since we knew our insurance wouldn't cover it.
Fast forward 4 years, we had the funds and I was ready. Never really considered anything other than the sleeve. Have not regretted it an ounce.
