I don't know of any in southeast Georgia but I had mine done in Atlanta with the number 1 surgeon in the world....He is the president of the Bariastric Assc.Of America. I don't know how far you are from Atlanta but it is well worth it..Peachtree Bariatrics.. Dr. Titus Ducan and Dr. larry Hobson

~ doesn't think she'll ever reach her original weight, no matter HOW hard she tries. Hell, let's face it, 8lb 10oz is not very realistic is it?
I'm about 5 hours south of Atlanta. I've just started checking into this and not even sure where to begin. I know I want to have this done and as soon as possible. From start to finish how long was it before your surgery? Do I have to contact my insurance to see if they even cover this.
Thanks for responding to my post.
it is better if you call them then you have to set up to go to a seminar it is mandatory for surgery..but i started in june of 2011 and had my surgery august 2011 but some insurance require 6 month diet before surgery..you have to have a psych evaluation, clearance from you pcp and heart and lung doctor sleep apena test. Most of the time the doctor has a 1 stop medical shop ..you can get all it done at one time..now if you have it done out of the country not sure what the requirements are..but it is worth the time to do all this..good luck

I had my surgery done with Dr. Smith who has his office in the Wellstar kennestone hospital in Marietta, which is not to fr from Atlanta it is actually right off I75. He was awesome, done a great job, all his staff is great. If you google Doctor Denis Smith bariatric you will find his website. Email me anytime with questions.
I live in Savannah. The only bariatric surgeon that I know of here is Dr. Oliver Whipple at Memorial Health Bariatrics. I couldn't get the sleeve done through him (because of Tricare), so I went through Eisenhower Army Medical Center and Dr. Choi in Augusta, GA. Hope this helps.
Lisa thanks for the reply back. I though I sent a message back but I dont think it went through. I was wondering what all you had to do before you could have the surgery. I heard there was a bunch of things you had to do before hand. How long before you could return to work? Thanks for all your help and have a bless night.
