Gastri Sleeve Outpatient Surgery?

Had my Sleeve performed Friday Oct. 12th in Henderson, NV, went to and walked around at the Hoover Dam on Monday the 15th, flew home on Tuesday the 16th on Wed. the 17th drove 3 hours and went to work for 5 hours. Feeling great! Hope others have similar experiences.

I only stayed in for one day it was a walk in the park so to say ,i had had a laperscopic galbladder surgery about 1 year before ,and i was not as comfortable as ever , try not to worry it will be over before you know it then you will laugh at being so nerved out.

Uh ... for those who have the surgery in Mexico and then return to a hotel that night, isn't that essentially also an outpatient surgery service?

Hi! My surgeon, Dr. Pomp at Cornell Weill, requires a minimum of 2 days in the hospital, no including the day of surgery. Heck, they don't even take you for the swallow test until the next morning! They won't give you anything to eat or drink until you've had the swallow test (and passed it, of course). Ultimately, like everyone else says, it's up to your comfort, financial situation and what you feel comfortable with. Someone else here had it done as outpatient but was required to come back to the hospital for the 2nd and 3rd day for a check up. Good luck to you!

I've heard of it, but can't imagine it. My procedure went incredibly well. I was released after 1 night, (a full day early), and was back at work the next week, never having touched narcotic pain meds. But it took me literally all day to become lucid after the anesthesia. So much so that I was told my mother left in tears about 5pm (I was still so out of it). I came around by about 8pm started doing laps and met her at the elevator the next day. What a difference 1 night makes! That was my experience, YMMV.
