    Default Is eating oatmeal good?

Hi guys! Im back! i was having a prob with my internet connection. Uhm,im practicing myself in eating soft food oatmeal to be specific...i drink my protein shake in the morning and oatmeal for lunch and dinner...i know im not getting enough protein right now,its just that GNC ran out of the vanilla flavored protein...i kinda cursed having the choco one coz ive been constipated for weeks. So yeah,i would like to ask if eating oatmeal would be a good idea?

I am 11 weeks post op today, and my DR recommended oatmeal as long as it is runny.

Oatmeal is fine. Even better if you add protein powder to it. Not that it tastes better, just better for you. I only add a couple spoonfuls, not a whole scoop. But even getting a few extra grams of protein in is good. Plus oatmeal is good for fiber.

oatmeal was on my post op list of foods to eat a week out from surgery. I was only on clear liquids for the first day post op and then they started me on the full liquid diet after that and then 7 days out I was told to include cream of wheat and oatmeal for breakfast. The oatmeal CANNOT be any of the instant packets as it it high in sodium and sugar they recommended the quick cook oats but if you go with old fashioned rolled oats you must blend it as the grains are a bit too tough for a new tummy to digest without a little help. A regular serving is 1/2 a cup but post op I was lucky to get down more than a tablespoon. While there is little protein it is definitely very filling. I still can't handle a 1/2 cup unless I want to be at the breakfast table for an hour and a half to get it down and that is not happening!
