Red face Hello new to the site.....

    Yes another newbie,
Hello.......I am after advice. I have just turned 40....I live in Brisbane...
In my previous pregnancies I was diagnosed with GD and was classed as high risk and was induced with each pregnancy.....two pregnancies of which I had to inject myself with insulin ....and I have a Mother that suffers from High blood pressure...so I know that it is something that I need to watch out for....
    I am 155 height and 63/64kg....

I know that I am not getting any younger and as I get older these problems come and get worse with age...

So I guess what I am asking is what are my chances.....of having the sleeve done...
Oh and I am a SAHM (so I don't have super to claim on for super access on)so financially I would have to get the money from DH (if we can afford it) .

What to you think any advice would be appreciated....

Hello: Your height and weight suggests that you are in a healthy weight range. why would you want the sleeve done?
I dont know that a surgeon would agree to it at your current stage, the best thing to do would be to either phone or email them and ask re the situation.
    All the best.

    Dear Purple Bliss

I am sorry to hear of your problems, which are best encapsulated in one, telling phrase: ".I live in Brisbane."

This is a tragic situation, which will evoke great sympathy. Try moving to Montana. Or Alaska. Or the Falklands.

I am sure you will find easy answers to your other issues from the kind hearts on this site.

most medical recommendations for a person of 5'1" (155cm) is between 101-132 lbs, at 64kg you are only about 20lbs outside your "ideal" weight range. Gastric procedures are for folks with a BMI of greater than 40 or about 80lbs overweight for women (about 36kg OVER your ideal body weight). If you have already been diagnosed with some co-morbidities such as diabetes or high blood pressure or high cholesterol for example then you could be a candidate if your BMI is between 35-39. Less than that and gastric procedures are not likely going to be approved or recommended. Talk to your doctor.

    KFC

Absolutely right, as medical ideas now stand. But there is speculation that GS will eventually be seen as "appropriate" above 30BMI.
