Default Would you do it again????

Hello, I am at the very very beginning of the process to obtain gastric sleeve surgery. My question is: would you do it again?
I am 62 years old and weigh 284 lbs. I have fought my weight my entire life. I have high BP, type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea; all controlled.
I lost my husband to cancer three years ago. For three years prior, I took care of him. At this point in my life, I think it's time for me to take care of me. I am only 5ft 1in so this body struggles to do anything with all this weight. I feel like I am missing out on so much due to my physical limitations. My first grandchild is almost 1 year old, and I so want to be able to keep up with him. I just need to be sure that I am following the right path. I am sure that I will be educated on all this, as I said I am just at the beginning. It would be nice to know that folks truly would do it again. That the benefits outweigh the life change. Thank in advance for any thoughts you have.

    Hi,
I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Continue to do your research and make a decision based upon what you want to do, not someone else. Getting the sleeve is the best thing that I have ever done for me. Good Luck in whatever you decide.

100% - I'm fairly fresh from surgery - little over 6 months out. 50 yo was 300 pre-op and down to 220 already, lower weight than I've been since middle school. Everything went smoothly for me - not saying it will for you or does for everyone - but it all has been easier than I thought it would be. From recovery to liquid diet to transitioning into regular maintenance diet - it's all just happened like it was supposed to for me. Time will tell if I keep the weight off, but I am confident that the trend will continue and I'll respect the opportunity that WLS provided me and I won't ruin it! Good luck

I would do it again. I had reservations because I was older, didn't really think it mattered at this age, but it will make my remaining years (however many I have left) more comfortable.
