Do you have a list of what he says you can eat?
Off hand, I'd say the pudding is a no no because of the sugar and rice in it.... rice is a no go for many people for months and months... and the eggs because hard boiled don't even go down for me now after 8 weeks. (hurts just thinking about it) Wondering if it's just the particular foods you chose to ask about.
At 2 weeks most folks are eating pureed foods. Canned chicken with ff mayo. Scrambled egg beaters with some extra water or milk put through the food processor. Yogurt. Protein drinks still. Jello. Cottage cheese. Refried beans or beans put through the food processor. Tofu.
My group suggests this pureed diet for 3-4 weeks. Even then it would be only 6 weeks out at most.
    4 months seems odd.

I came back to attach a guideline I found online because I'm not sure if they sent you home with anything....

4 months seems like a long time. I was allowed to start pureed diet after 2 weeks post op but rice was not included. Thicker soups, pureed vegatables, cottage cheese etc. but its trial and error what I can tolerate.
Give your doctor another call and see what he says.
    Good luck

I think every Doc is different. Yesterday I was told I couold eat scrambled eggs, rolled deli meat(ham, turkey) with low fat cheese, fish, in general things that are soft. I have to chew realy well of course. I had about 2 oz. of fish last night and it was very good.

JeanAng are you feeling better now? Your other posts were concerning. Did you get to the root of the problems and get yourself feeling better?

Same day surgery sister - I've still got another 10 days liquids before I do soft foods. Be careful hon, don't want to mess up your suture line.

My doctor laid out a 6 week plan but basically told me "your body will tell you what is ok". I was about 1 week ahead of my plan after the first week. I think the important things are probably the first two weeks to make sure you don't get any food caught somewhere it shouldn't, but I think mostly after that your body tells you what you can and can't do.

Like some people struggle with rice as mentioned, but I haven't, it is one of the grains my stomach likes. Corn is the other, where as wheat causes me problems, even 8 months out. It often gets "stuck".

I'm part of an online support group and a big part of the "no" on rice is the carbs. There are several doctors along with nutritionists that prefer 6 months of no heavy starches because it can trigger impulses and cravings while you're still learning your new eating habits. Additionally, carbs can expand and as you're learning your new tummy you need to know how to not over fill it. Made sense to me so thought I would share.
