I wasn't able to get much liquids down those first few weeks after surgery. Just try to sip and get what you can down. My surgeon gave me nausea medicine which helped that constant sick to my stomach feeling. Just keep an eye out for dehydration. I probably only got 100 to 200 calories at the most for the month after surgery. I was so weak but I got through it day by day. My thirst didn't really return until about two months post op.

Sip, sip, sip. Don't get dehydrated. Don't get discouraged. Just stay on top of your liquids.

It takes a little while for your stomach to get over the trauma of the operation.
It's hard to be patient, but just as mentioned above keep sipping little amounts as often as you can and take anti nausea meds if you have them.
These non-fun times will be over before you know it and you will soon have forgotten all about it because you will be so excited about the new you that is emerging :-)

How could you be sad knowing that before you know it you will be a regular sized person. Think long term here. Get exited! You just had major surgery, of course you won't be feeling great. It will get better every day. Take teeny tiny sips of liquid every waking moment. Sleep, I think I slept most of that first week.

Get happy! I can tell you my positive attitude was my secret to success.

Oh dear, you are too hard on yourself. Your tummy just went through major reconstruction, it needs to heal. First off, every one is different, some say they eat cheesburgers and others can't hold down water.
Water was horrible for me for at least 6 months. I found tepid drinks did best. I went with plain warm tea, some strained soups. Coffee was terrible.I struggled with drinking enough. Protein shakes were hard to get down. They have made great strides in better tasting shakes. I tried diet gingerale at room tempature with all the fizzies out. That worked. I still drink diet decaf iced tea.
This is now part of your life and is the neverending story. What is a struggle today becomes easier and then something else happens. Keep typing. I'm going to try to be a better friend to the members here. I've been silent too long

Hi there! Be kind to yourself and give your body time to heal. You'll be all right soon enough.
