    Default Elf

You know how Buddy eats on the movie Elf? Well that was me with a week of the grandkids visiting. 4 pounds! AHHHH! We even skied for 4 days. The reason my husband and I eat so well is we have no junk in the house. Not the case this week. Back to eating FOOD and getting back into my exercise routine.

I survived Christmas and a piecaken unscathed, but went out of town for two days and came home yesterday 5 pounds up. Grrr! Planned to work on getting back down starting today, but then got a phone call that I have a hummingbird cake made just for me. I'll get to taking off those pounds and the ones I'm about to gain... maybe next week.

Happy New to everyone. I should be celebrating my daughters wedding this weekend, but instead we are locked down and the only thing that makes it bearable is eating My son is also home from uni and that means junk food in the house. I am also up but have decided that I am getting back to basics and healthy eating. TG the gym's aren't closed and I can still exercise.

Sorry about your daughter's wedding, I understand the disappointment! 2021 HAS to be better.

Getting ready for 6 1/2 miles with my yak tracks and it's 12 degrees. But the sun is shining and it's beautiful out! Gotta get off these 4 pounds. Grandkids went home yesterday so no more excuses. I don't know how you guys do it with kids/teens in the house. I just have no willpower. Plus now that we moved to middle of nowhere Colorado we have very few dining options, Mexican, Pizza, McDonalds and Subway are about it. No temptation there. Here's to a healthy new year!

    Hi Ellie,
    How are you doing?
    Not easy with the pandemic.
It is cold and it is tricky and I hear you!
Has anyone got any tips to shift a few pesky pounds that are warming and satisfying?
I tried the chicken soup broths that I made post-op but they end up in a container in the fridge and not been eaten when hubby cooks something delicious I don't think it is what I am eating but the amount!
I also am so thirsty and that is no good as I struggle to quench my thirst I end up drinking so much coffee water just makes me feel cold!
And I am already cold, so I do not reach for room temperature drinks hot or cold I need to figure this one out!
    Any tips?
    Hope you are ok!

What about green or herbal teas. Little calories, if any, and you can have them hot or cold.

Oh, Thank you I already do them, I find they can dry my throat even more so I started putting in sugar and cinnamon stick but I was unsure of the sugar so I switched to honey.

So yes I bought a couple an intend to experiment I tried echinacea and rosehip with a cinnamon stick in the cup got rid of the sugar and added a dash of honey so it is not too drying and that was ok!
And I put marmite (I know, you love it or hate it!) in a cup of boiled water and a dash of Worcester sauce it was good! I think I might add some once meat to it and see if I can make it into a healthy soup.
Just to modify it from being a drink to a light meal so I will let you know how it goes.
    Thanks

    Marmite! I love it :-)
Have you tried it in mashed potato? Fold in a teaspoonful (or more depending on the amount of potato) right at the end before you serve.
I can only manage a tablespoonful after I've been a good girl and eaten my protein and good veges first, but it's delicious.
