I have gerd, I've had it for 30 years. Diagnosed twice with a hernea. I have taken pump prohibitors for 30 years now. I know getting this surgery could induce gerd, if I am already being treated for it, is this something I should be worried about?

Sounds like something you should talk to your surgeon about. Some people here have had issues following surgery.
I had GERD before gastric sleeve surgery as well. I had an awful time with GERD for a couple months following surgery. It is being managed pretty well right now by Protonix 40 mg twice a day. My surgeon wanted to do a conversion to bypass (two months after sleeve) but my insurance denied it. If I could go back I would have talked to my surgeon about having a bypass instead of a sleeve.
I did not have it prior to surgery, but I have it something fierce since. It has only gotten worse over the years. It is particularly shittastic right now. I also take Protonix, but I either need to up the dose or look into something different. I feel Iike I have acidic fire coming up my chest as type this.
