It never ceases to me amaze the difference in clothing sizes. There's no way there should be this much difference.

I agree, it's the same over here. I can be one size at one shop and then a totally different size at another.
It seems that there is no real standard and it just depends on the manufacturer.

Women's clothing is often off. While I typically wear an 8, I do fit in a size 12 Kuhl hiking pants! I should cut that horrible number out! Maybe it's European sizing or something.

My size 8 pants fit just as well as my size 10 pants. It absolutely makes no sense!

Gladly I never have such problems! The biggest issue is that I can hardly find my size whenever I go. I even usually buy clothes from the children's section! Actually, the one-time problem I faced with size measurements was when I ordered Indian Clothes. I needed it for an Indian Wedding and, because of the new model of clothes, I had a critical time choosing my right size. But, I bought a beautiful Rama Blue Dress. Beautiful - little is said! The dress is absolutely extraordinary! The fabric is unusual but marvelous! I began to love their dresses!

That's why basically each brand has its size charts. Some clothes are made manually, others by machines. So each Company might easily have different measurements for each size. Usually, a size chart includes 4 main measurements, bust, waist, hip, and height. A good thing to know about picking the right size o the clothes, especially for trousers or jeans, is to measure the inseam. You can check how to measure your inseam online. It's a piece of useful information to know. It will help you better guess the size that you need.

Every clothing brand has its own size measurement, so from my perspective, this is something normal. This is more of a problem for people which are ordering clothes online. For example, I recently bought a dress from an online clothes shop, and I bought the M size wish usually is my size. And when I got the package, the dress was too big. I was lucky that the shop agreed to return me the money. Still, we should be cautious when buying clothes because of the size measurement, especially when purchasing online.
